“Aussie Run, Near Spa Samui Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2012

We spent two fabulous weeks at Weekender VILLA after our Cleanse at Spa Samui, which is two doors down.

Tony is from Australia, so it was so refreshing to not have any language barriers or misconceptions at bill paying time! Weekender Villa has a beautiful beachfront bar that is open to all, you don't have to be a guest. And they are so friendly and enjoy what they do that it just translates to how they are with everyone. If you are walking along the beach, fancy a beer or rum drink, come on in, and you can even take a dip in the pool. Just be polite and be sure to order something!

They make a delicious Fresh Coconut Water with Bacardi Rum and lime - oh, sooooo good! And for breakfast they have a great fruit plate or fruit and yogurt breakfast, as well as yummy eggs and awesome coffee.

We were there during the off season (translation, lower rates) and the rates were 500 Baht (around $15 US dollars) to 1500 Baht (around $45 US dollars). I think the less expensive is fan and no DVD player (still has TV!), and the most expensive is ocean side with all the bells and whistles. They even have in-room safes.

The nearby Spa Samui has Radiance Restaurant that is open B, L, D and it is a reasonably priced, delicious eating option. The Beach Republic and Le Meridien/Starwood are nearby expensive options (but obviously we're in a good neighborhood!)

It is fun to walk to town, we did everyday, and Lamai has everything you need from gifts, 300 Baht massages ($9 US), tons of really good restaurants, Samui Fitness (great gym and they even have a low monthly rate), food stands, entertainment, etc.

The Weekender Villa Staff are friendly and fabulous. Also, be aware, there are two more Weekenders in Lamai, but they are in town (translation: louder and more expensive). This one is on the Ring Road on your way to Lamai from Chaweng or the Airport. It is on the left (beachside) after Beach Republic and Le Meridien and before Spa Samui and Buddy's, if your taxi takes the left onto Lamai Road, then they are taking you to the wrong one. You want Weekender VILLA :-)

Room Tip: Great value to have one of the rooms behind the restaurant/bar.

Loved this place - so quiet and tranquil. Right on the beach in a very private location. The rooms are very reasonably priced with helpful and friendly staff that make you feel comfortable and at home. I will definitely return to stay again!

I am in love with this place. It isn't fancy, it doesn't have one hundred rooms and it doesn't have a million staff.
What it does have are very affordable, clean rooms and friendly staff that make you feel at home.
The resort was being updated when we were there but the staff couldn't do enough for us.
It is in a great position, close enough to everything yet far enough from the noise of Chewang Rd and central Lamai to sit in the quiet and just relax by the pool overlooking the ocean.

Room Tip: If you are going to stay at this Resort, book one of the superior rooms. If you get the room closest...

Hi,

Located in the quieter part of the island in Lamai this is a hidden gem. Very reasonably priced, clean air-conditioned rooms some with TV and DVD, very helpful owner ( Gerlinde ) and staff. Small pool but on the beach - quiet place for those looking to chill and an ideal base to explore the rest of the island. We have stayed here countless times and always return.

What a nice place!

I've stayed at the Weekender Villa (Koh Samui, Lamai Beach) twice. Both times were good experiences. You'll feel like you're staying at a Classic, timeless Southeast Asian guest house---AND it's clean.

Prices are better than at the bigger, more faceless hotels with hundreds of rooms. (Note: this is NOT the "Weekender Resort" on Koh Samui. It's the Weekender VILLA. They're different places; different owners & locations.)

What you get is a clean room with air conditioning (you won't need it that much, nighttime); hot/cold shower; room safe; small fridge; pleasant family mood staff; and a unique owner who takes time to talk to you.

The beach is just 20 metres from your room: pretty good swimming; and gorgeous evening walks along kilometres of sandy beach. Oh, and a nice thing about this part of Lamai Beach: it's not the crowded, noisy, central part of Lamai. It's still peaceful: an enclave in Lamai, nestled between that bustling Lamai part, and the overly-busy Chawang Beach further up the coast. It's quiet a night: you can sleep.

Most guests seem to be families or older Europeans: a happy & safe bunch--AND they talk to you. It was nice to meet friendly, nice travellers from Germany, Canada, and other farflung places.

There's a small pool...though with the beach right a your fingertips, why bother. Head straight for the ocean!

Oh, and for those interested in taking part in the "Body-Cleansing" regimen (fasting, etc.): Koh Samui's first (& foremost) cleansing places, "The Spa" is within a 5-minute walk from the Weekender Villa. Very convenient location, if you're into that.

I'd definitely stay at the Weekender Villa again. Worth every penny! I'm hoping that schedules, flights, and circumstances will allow me to visit it (and the peaceful beach) sometime in the very near future.
