“Beautiful views and lovely area”

Cute little church on the beach front - makes a great spot to stop. The bus passes here coming from Grand Baie/Pereybere so easily accessible, even without a car. The views are spectacular and the area very nice. The beach is much quieter with tourists than other popular areas - most seem to come and see the church and then leave. It's very interesting sitting on the beach, watching the fishermen, chatting to the locals, playing petanque, but if you walk just around the corner, you'll find a deserted beach. Not much in the way of refreshments here, at least not in June (all was closed) - there was a great roadside place selling delicious dholl puri - definitely worth a taste and not at all expensive!

worth swinging by if you're going through the coastal road on the north of the island. i was looking out for the place only because i saw it in a gigantic blown-up photograph at an exhibit in port louis a few days before, and the brief stop was worth it. just picturesque with the boats in the water. park along the road to the east of the church.

Cap Malheureux is famous for this nice small secluded church, but have a look around! you will find much more... look for Kevin and his boat (the "Sea Wanderer"): he offers private excursions at Ile plate, ile d'ambre, after the reef or in the aquarium, searching for whales and dolphins or just to swim or go fishing.
fishermen come between 2 and 4 on their boat on the beach behind the church and we could buy fresh fishes making a deal with them; on the other side of the small beach a old man bones our fish on a wood table and sea water.
mauritians play bocce under the trees near the parking of the church
but best of all, you can take part to local life and swim inside and outside the reef with your private skipper in a secret place, because hurried people note only the church
