We went here 4 times for lunch on our two week holiday in Playa de Santiago which is testament to it's great food, service and value. It was only open for lunch, but on each occasion the fish of the day was different and on each occasion it was delicious. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable. All the locals use it and it's location, right on the beach is fabulous. Yes, it's rough and ready decor wise - it's a beach shack, but it was our firm favourite for lunch and we'll be back next time we visit the Island.

We wouldn’t have gone had it not been for previous reviews as it looks a bit scruffy and outside the tables were in a dusty area...however..the service was very friendly, the food was brilliant, the facilities immaculate..so much so that we went three times in a fortnight and we would recommend it to anyone. Mixed clientele, bikers, trendies, families, oldies, everyone dealt with very well. Not to be missed in our view.

It's a beach shack. Tables fashioned out of cable drums. Plastic chairs. First come, first served.
The menu is ridiculously inexpensive for the quality (and quantity) of the food.
So get there early, grab a table, order a chilled drink, be repared to wait a while for your food ... and enjoy the moment.
Fine dining it ain't, but it's a great way to spend a couple of hours and in terms of offering bangs per buck, it's hard to beat.

We've been visiting the restaurant for 15 years and after travelling extensively around the world I've decide its the best restaurant in the world! La Chalana is a small shack on the beach with tables fashioned from old steel cable drums and its beauty is its simplicity, its owner, its simple but great sea food, the view and the ice cold rosado. You will feel that you are tucked away on a small beach in South America rather than Europe. The owner is charming and helpful, the food is fresh and seasonal and you may be disappointed that if you arrive later in the day some food may have already sold out. I was intrigued on my last visit that the owner was a rugby fan and player after being coached in his local school by an English teacher. If you are staying in the Jardin Tecina this is a must visit place,

Fabulous spot to watch the sea. Gets very busy and you may have to wait for a table. Jorge works hard to make sure everyone is served in order. The haddock and cherna (wreckfish) were excellent. Easy walking to the beach for a paddle. Take it easy and enjoy.
