The hotel is situated in Malga Ciapela, but that's no real village. It basically consists of the hotel and some houses around it. Big plus is that the skilift to the top of the Marmolada gletcher is located right in front of the hotel, which means that you can step out of the hotel's ski storing cellar (with boot dryers!) and hop right into the ski lift. Big warning: this is also the only skilift you can take from this hotel, which means it's absolutely no good for beginners!
The hotel itself is quite large, but the furnishing dates from the 70's. Clean but outdated and a bit shabby.
Same goes for the room: it was spacious and the bed was fine, but our room only had 2 tiny roof windows and a bathroom that was approx. 1m2. Much too small for a room with 3 beds!
Staff was friendly, but no more.
The food was OK, no fine cuisine but rather heavy and hearty. Make sure you go to the dining room on time, because the antipasti buffet is emptied quickly and they don't refill it.
There is a large and cosy bar, the TV room however is really cheerless and looks even older than the rest of the hotel.
I don't think I'll ever return here, I'd rather stay in a town nearby, like Arabba, where you have other restaurants and sunny terrasses around, and a bit more life.
