Amazing Experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Oct 2024
Il Bottaccio is a unique experience, a true connection between gastronomy and art. The sommelier, Aldo, brings a wealth of knowledge, enhancing the dining experience with perfectly chosen wines. Nino, both the chef and GM, creates a distinctive and welcoming atmosphere that makes every meal feel like a masterpiece. Irina, the sales manager, is always available, ensuring that any request can be fulfilled, and Monique, the incredible receptionist, adds a special touch, especially for Brazilian guests. The entire team goes above and beyond, making this place feel like a home away from home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable stay!

The hotel is small (8 rooms) in a beautiful park setting. It is an old olive mill; the water wheel and other parts of the mill are still evident. You are treated like close family by the staff - very warm and welcoming. The staff is surprisingly large for such a.small hotel. The meals are outstanding and the chef is quite ready to tailor the meal to your desires. Artwork abounds, both inside and outside in the park-like setting. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a lot of character. They are all different. Well worth a stop traveling in northern Tuscany.

Outstanding service, Aldo and Nino were amazing! We spent 30 days in Europe, hands down the best experience and the suite was outstanding! We stayed 4 days at this beautiful place and will be back.

Nino the chef is great and highly recommend to book a cooking lesson. Worth the price and experience. The grounds are immaculate and tucked away in a small nondescript village, do not let that deter you from staying.

I was going to say that the hospitality, service and attention to detail was “at the the level of the finest hotels I have ever stayed at.” But, I realized it is actually the finest, not just among the top 5. My wife and I are in Italy regularly and have stayed at exceptional 4 and 5 Star hotels, but we have never had the experience of service and attention to detail that we found at this establishment. Nino and the entire staff are exceptional. The only regret is that we were only able to stay 3 nights.

I may add that the cuisine that Nino presents is outstanding. On this trip, we had the opportunity to eat in a number of excellent restaurants and this was simply the best cuisine we enjoyed in Italy on this trip. The food is creative, but also well rooted in tradition and local ingredients.

I have read all the reviews!
Our experience - the staff were amazing especially Aldo. The food was on the whole delicious but very expensive. Breakfast - too many plates, bowls and the fruit salad was going brown by the third day! Very surprised they did not make it fresh each day. Much better and cheaper at our hotel in Florence the previous week.
Our room (junior suite) looked out to a wall, no terrace and dark. I was very disappointed especially as our friends opposite had been upgraded to a suite with private garden at no extra cost. (My husband could not climb the stairs to our upgrade due to a knee problem).
It was cold so we had to eat some meals round the internal pool which smell of chlorine which was unpleasant.
The pool was not heated so we could not swim. Very disappointed.
And very expensive. I am surprised it was full the following week. There are 8 rooms.

Room tip: You may be happy with prices but it’s overrated. We visited the best restaurants in a Florence which were better!

This place is a hidden gem! The property was previously an olive oil mill. We stayed in the room with the olive grinder and the collection vat is now a bath tub! The staff is beyond amazing and we had dinner at their restaurant all three nights….It was that great! Cooking class was interactive, personal and delicious! Fresh, homemade, baked pastry every morning… we can’t wait to go back.
