We were a group of three women, one older, one pregnant and the other convalescing from surgery so quiet was what we were after and that is what we got. Hotel is very remote there are little in the way of shops to browse around.

The beach was a short walk and was fabulous.

We stayed on half board basis and the food was lukewarm and bland and after a while we got fed up with it.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

There were a lot of Portugeuse people staying in the hotel as well as a lot of Scandinavians.

At night there is entertainment in the lobby but was not worth the bother so the nights were hard to find something to do as a taxi was 20 euros return to Albufeira.

The complimetary bus only takes you to another Gale hotel and not into the heart of Albufeira. The times are not great for these either

This hotel is located in a residential area just outside of Albufeira . The hotel provides a free shuttle into Albufeira three times daily. Unlike all other hotels this time of year the hotel provides nightly entertainment which is very good. It also gives guests an opportunity to mingle with other guests, if you want to. The cleaning staff do an excellent job, the indoor pool is heated and the outdoor pool is immaculate although not heated. The hardier types did go swimming in the outdoor pool. The temperature ranged in the low to mid 20 C every day. Our JM Vacations rep was great and gave us some very good recommendations.
There is a brand new grocery store a block from hotel with everything one could want or need. There is a golf course not far and the hotel guests can get a discount, however, we find golfing in Portugal very expensive! There are excellent restaurants within walking distance. We were more than happy with this hotel!

Just returned from 4 days stay with my wife and would recommend .
The hotel was probably more a 3star + but clean , simple and friendly staff.
It was our 40th birthday and the bottle of bubbly and chocolates were a lovely suprise.
Hotel is quiet , but this might be because its out of season
Lots of older guests and the evening entertainment was more for them .
Great restaurant right on the local secluded beach about a five minute walk away
Beach is great for kids , very safe and great rocks and coves to play in .The usual brollies and beds , toilets , bar .
Supermarket only five minute walk and i must say the smartest cleanest i have ever seen .
We hired a car which was needed as the hotel location is very quiet with few shops
Alberfuira only 10 minute drive with the usual livley strip / shops /restaurants
Dont get caught out by the time share reps who will tell you have won a holiday or cash
we did and lost 3 hours of our holiday (suckers) unless you have a spare 12 grand to spare dont bother
Worth taking a trip to Villamora for the day , great marina , food and shops.
Would go back to hotel and resort -
We flew with Easy jet and booked car hire with them _ value for money - booked the cheapest car and got a free upgrade
our holiday cost 350 pounds for flights - hotel and car hire - worth double this - Happy days
Hope you find this reveiw helpful

My husband and I had a great time in the Algarve.
We booked through J.M Vacations because we saw the brochure with their specials and the Vila Gale Atlantico was priced at $900.00 CDN per person. (return flight, hotel and car rental).
Since we weren't paying a fortune for our vacation we didn't expect the hotel to be that great, but were pleasantly suprised.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, reception was quick and efficient, and our maid service was always well done.
We didn't take the all inclusive because our room had the kitchenette which we rarley used, there were so many wonderful restaurants nearby for us to eat at.
The beds were a bit hard, looked like you were sleeping on just the box springs, but we soon got used to them.
There was plenty of pool loungers to go around, we never had any trouble getting any to sun in. As we where there in late April the pool was a bit to cold for our taste but that was fine. We did our beach and ocean vacation early in the year in Mexico, this was a trip to see a bit of Europe.
Our J.M Vaction representiative was an angel, we had the rental car so we didn't book any of the trips and excursions through her, but she was just as happy to provide maps and recommendations of things for us to do and see on our own.
Gas in Portugal for 97 octane was $1.37 Euros a litre, and $1.12 in Spain just across the border. We spent $90.00 Euros in total on gas the entire time we were there. We took the rental car out everyday, we drove to Huelva Spain and to the east coast of Portugal halfway up to Lisbon to the town of Aljezur, an incredible beach there. We went to Cape St.Vincent and the Fortress of Henry the Navigator. To the mountain town of Monchique and Sagres and Travira. The traffic circles took a little getting used to but the higways were great. Zipped along them at 140 kph and hardly anyone else on the road. We wanted to take in a Benfica game but didn't want to drive to Lisbon so we book a train trip from Albfueria to Lisbon, 1st class round trip. $78.00 Euros for the 2 of us. Our credit card bill for that purchase was $120.00 CDN. I thought that was a great bargin since a train from Union Station in Toronto to Kingston, one way, one economy fare was over that price. Here again the reception staff at the hotel went out of their way to help us out. When we asked them about where to buy train tickets and they found out our intentions, they got on the phone and booked us a room at the Hotel Vila Gale Opera in Lisbon for 1 night and we got a deal because we were staying at the sister hotel for the week.
Lisbon was awesome, the subway system was very easy to navigate and we found the Stadio de Luz with ease. Bought two tickets for $10.00 Euros eash (compared to $50.00 TFC tickets) and saw a really spectacular Benfica game. Also the concessions at the stadium are really cheap. Drinks were $2.00 Euros and a sandwich was $3.00 Euros, again compared to Toronto a real bargin.
We would really like to go back.

The location is very good. They do not have their own private beach as was mentioned on reviews i saw before i went to this place. However there is a local beach which is quiet and not crowded. The rooms are neat and clean and the sea view rooms have a beautiful view. However the staff although polite takes too long to help you.
