Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

Allow plenty of time to enjoy this outstanding restaurant. Warm welcome. We were there for dinner. Choice of menus. We chose The Tasting Menu which was a really great choice. We sampled scallop, Crail crab, Orkney langoustine, Duck egg in a potatoe crust, smoked shoulder of lamb, warm Strathearn cheese and roast plum with plum sorbet. All dishes were garnished and presented beautifully. A full explanation of each course was given by the very knowledgeable and thoughtful staff. Would recommend for that special occasson.

Enjoyed another delicious lunch at the Peat Inn. At £22 for a 3 course Michelin star lunch it represents outstanding value. Service and ambience excellent as always too.

We stopped here for lunch on route between Crail and Seahouses and were extremely impressed. Welcoming staff, a great choice of menus and a fabulous view from the dining room. The 4 course Chef's Menu was great value at under £50 when you have one star restaurants in Bristol now charging almost £100 for lunch of a comparable quality.

My daughter in law said the halibut was the best she has ever had. One course meal is plenty. Excellent service, quality food, outstanding service. Should go there while in area

We had visited locals and asked them to recommend some place they had heard about but hadn't been able to get to. For the four of us at lunch, it was delightful! Go earlier than your booking as the pre-lunch welcome in the front lounge is part of the whole experience. Food and service were all delightful!
