I can’t recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we arrived, Kimberley, the Californian receptionist, was helpful and provided excellent local advice. We had one of the more expensive rooms on the top floor and it is was delightful. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was a small balcony with an amazing view which was probably more useful in the warmer months. The ‘pod’ coffee machine was a welcome extra. There was live music in the bar in the evening. Breakfast is not included but the a la carte breakfast was reasonably priced and delicious. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night.

Room Tip: Upstairs balcony rooms

Stayed for 2 nights with wife and kids in a family room which was brilliant; really big with nice comfy beds and a coffee/tea maker machine. Shower is a proper size and we had a sea view which was lovely first thing in the morning when the sun came out. Staff really friendly and approachable and the breakfast and evening meal were really good. Diddly dee music in the evenings up until about 10pm which we loved. Good car parking and only 3 miles from the cilffs of Moher make this a great base to explore the county from. Staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view.

I’ll start off with the positives, which kept this from being a one star review: The room was clean and we had a little balcony (although balcony was filthy and infested with spiders and webs). We also had an enjoyable dinner in the pub. The food was good and the music was enjoyable.

Cons: I usually prefer a hard mattress but this one felt like sheets covering a plank. To go along with this, the two pillows were like gym mats. Using one pillow felt like I was laying on the floor. Attempting to use both pillows was like lifting my head from a plank onto another plank. This was the worst hotel bed I’ve ever experienced. I literally slept a total of maybe an hour the entire night. At one point, I tried sleeping on the one lounger in the room but again, felt like it was a big upholstered rock. Luckily we were only there that one (endless) night. The next morning, we staggered to breakfast (not included in the room charge) in the pub. We were seated, given one menu, ordered a pot of tea. The woman who checked us in the day before was the one to seat us. She told us she would be “right back” with our tea and another menu. We never saw her again. We sat there for 20 minutes, watching as other patrons were seated and served by a different waitress (who never once looked in our direction or even acknowledged we were sitting about a foot away). Since we had a long drive ahead of us, we finally got up and left. None of the staff said a word to us as we walked by them and out the door.

Our advice for anyone considering this place is don’t bother. Wish we had stayed in Doolin.

Had a double room, which was large, comfortable and all the amenities required. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar is excellent, good food and live music, but not too intrusive. Breakfast really good. Excellent.
