We had previously dropped into the bar at The Cliffs of Moher Hotel to listen to the traditional music, played nightly between 7:30 to 10 pm by local muscians.

Thus engaged, we had happened to see dinners passing by, which looked very appetising indeed.

We returned to dine.

The Cliffs of Moher is an understated establishment tucked in unobtrusively at the Lahinch end of Liscannor. The owner clearly has an eye for art, and has decorated the Foyer and Bar with a very well selected set of prints, photographs, drawings and paintings. There is an Irish literary theme running through the Bar, with Yeats, Wilde and Sam Beckett gazing dispassionately at the Winers and Diners.

We both went for some of the best fish and chips ever, and agreed they tasted even better than they looked, served with a fistful of seasonal leaves perfectly tossed, and a light flavoursome tartare sauce. A sauvignon (e5.50 per glass) and a pint brought the bill to e 44.50. The local musicians played real music, without amplification to a relaxed and appreciative mix of locals and tourists with guitar, voices and concertina.

Overall, a light bright dining experience.....

Highly recommend this amazing little hotel that is a short drive from the Cliffs. The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. The pub attached to the hotel had a limited menu but the food was delicious and the Irish music they had during the evening was perfect.

Finishing up our 2nd nite here. First and foremost, Kimberly the manager becomes a good friend as soon as you enter (exhausted by the redeye flight and learning to drive Irish roads). Her advice was spot on. They make every effort to give you a nice stay. The hotel and town is well situated for not only the Cliffs but the rest of County Clare. Our room was well appointed, with a nice view of the water. The Vaughn restaurant next store to the hotel served fresh 'New Irish' cuisine (appetizer was scallops and pork belly, fried artichoke etc).

We arrived later than planned for our trip to the Cliffs of Moher. This hotel is only about 6km from the Cliffs. All staff members we encountered were very helpful and accommodating. There are food/drinks available on the property and at least 3 other eateries within 100 yards/meters. The only thing not positive was the lack of air conditioning, but our particular room had an openable skylight. This helped greatly, as the area is very quiet and there was always an ocean breeze. We chose the “sea view” so not sure if the other rooms had this type of skylight. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place, this is it.
