Villa Maredona has a full “5-star rating” on TripAdvisor, so we decided to check it out on our visit to Ascea. We had a superb stay for almost a week in September 2015. Marcello (the host) was extremely helpful and provided excellent service 24/7. Since we traveled by train, he gave us access to complimentary bicycles, which made it easy to get around. Marcello recommended fabulous trips in the area and suggested wonderful dining opportunities. In particular, we should mention L’Approdo Pizzeria Ristorante, where they serve the most fantastic genuine Italian pizza with extraordinary local wines. The beach is just a two-minute walk from Villa Maredona and has an authentic 1950s atmosphere. Visitors may enjoy the view of the ancient ruins of Velia from the breakfast table or even from the patio outside the guestrooms. As pointed out in other reviews, Villa Maredona is exceptionally clean and comfortable. The internet connection is reliable and reasonably fast and our guestrooms kept an outstanding standard. It is far from Norway to Ascea, but we will certainly visit Villa Maredona again. Highly recommended and clearly deserves the unusually high rating on TripAdvisor!

My stay was very comfortable. Hotel's staff is friendly, helpful and always available. Not only it was available in meeting our requests / needs but in some circumstances they have been anticipated. The location is strategically well-positioned for exploring both the Cilento that to have a comfortable and relaxing stay, few meters from the sea. I will visit again

We spent nearly 3 weeks in the Villa Mar@dona from end of July to mid August 2014. We had a wonderful time there! Our room was very nice, well equipped and we had an own private terrace. The room and the whole B&B are kept extremely clean and everything is in a very good shape and taken care of very well. Breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace with view to the ancient ruins of Velia and into the green garden. Marcello, our host, as well as his wife Svetlana, did everything to make it a pleasant stay for us. He is always asking what his guests would like to have for breakfast, as he is very aware that people have different breakfast habits and he wants to make them feel comfortable in every aspect.
Marcello and his wife speak German very well, as they both spent some years living in Germany. They also speak English and Svetlana in addition is fluent in several Eastern European languages, including Russian. The B&B is nicely located, very quiet and in walking distance to a beautiful beach. For guests of the B&B an umbrella and sunbeds are free of charge.
There are also restaurants in walking distance and for those eager to do some sightseeing (even though the ocean is wonderful and invites for swimming every day), the ancient ruins of Velia are just across the street. Marcello and his wife are also very helpful in giving hints for dinner or good ice cream, and do everything to make your vacation a wonderful experience. We will come back for sure!
