Have just returned from 2 weeks in this beautiful home. There was absolutely nothing lacking. From the moment we arrived and were met by the house manager Raphael who showed us everything we needed to know about the house, we knew that we were going to have a great 2 weeks and we weren't disappointed. A beautiful garden, with a frequent visit from some very friendly, and brave, birds. The first day we spent exploring the beaches were in walking distance. The nearest was down the Queens Fort drive just across from Mango Drive. Keep walking down the drive and follow it round to the right. Once you hit the sand turn right and up and over the steps. Beautiful swimming area in front of Glitter Bay. Watch the tide times tho as the steps do become slightly inaccessible at high tide. Reeds Beach (recommended by Heather and Mark) was another beautiful beach although the waves were HUGE one day we went so getting in and out the sea was tricky. These were freak waves I'm sure as other days they were gently lapping up, typical of west coast. Lone Star breakfast is HIGHLY recommended as is the gourmet buffet at Fairmont on a Tuesday night. Although we had a car this time for 2 weeks the location is so ideal that you could easily do without a car. Reggae buses and a pleasant walk to/from Holetown along the beach would make getting provisions easy enough. If you do have a car then Cost U Less near Warrens was the best value for supermarkets.
I've already been looking at returning next year as this is the best house yet. We've stayed in 3 in the area. Thanks Heather and Mark for opening your home for us to enjoy.
Having just returned from Barbados my husband and I found this house to be perfectly positioned for a relaxing holiday. The house itself it beautifully decorated, maintained and comfortable, with many home comforts.
The booking process and payment was so easy and Heather and Mark were always helpful with all of our enquiries.
The house is in a small gated community, with a short walk to lots of beautiful beaches which we walked everyday for miles. We didn't hire a car but Raphael met us at the airport and returned us there on our return, at a reasonable cost. He also stopped off at the supermarket so we could get a few provisions on the first night. As we got there quite late we decided just to go to Groots which is at the end of the road, it doesn't look much but the food it really good and very reasonable but not somewhere you would probably go every night..
We walked into Holetown everyday and back for any provisions and to bars and restaurants on the evenings but the bus was very frequent if you're not into walking. The bus stop is at the end of the road and the buses very frequent although the yellow buses are an experience. We only tried them once when we went to Bridgetown for the day. We had lunch at the Waterfront bar there which was very nice.
We ate at a few recommended restaurants (Tides, Zachios, Sea Cat, Lonestar, Ragamuffins, Beachfront) but the one we enjoyed the most was Spagos in 2nd Street. A little Italian which we visited 4-5 times, the food was good, service excellent and the wine was reasonable.
We did find the food very good everywhere we ate but the wine was very expensive. We ate at Tides for lunch one day and went for a bottle of wine we thought we recognised, we get it from Aldi for £6 it was even the same label and we paid $90 BD for it roughly about £39 !!
The people of Barbados we found to be very friendly and felt very safe there. We would recommend this house and Barbados to anyone thinking of visiting. We will definitely be returning.

Where to start. Loved everything about staying here. Right from the communications with Heather prior to arrival, her great suggestions of airport transfer, car rental, catamaran tour etc. She simply cannot do enough to make sure your vacation is perfect.
Ryan met us at the airport as arranged and stopped & waited in Holetown so we could stock up on provisions and then took us to the house. Rachel, the manager, was there upon our arrival and went through all the necessary info, how to use the alarm, gate codes etc. She was at our disposal but we really didnt need her for anything.
The house is in a great location, so close to the beach and a short drive to Holetown. Easy to find yet very secure & private. It has everything you could wish for and more, very stylishly decorated with high end appliances. The pictures do not lie.
We took Heather's recommendation of R and R Cruising vs others we had read about. By far this was the highlight of our trip and it wasnt because of the turtles as the water that day was a little murky due to a strong current so we didn't see any. It was just being treated like VIP's the entire time by Rebecca and Ryan and entertained beyond belief by the hilarious Greg. There were 6 of us on the catamaran and we truly were spoiled rotten. Nothing was too much bother. Our only regret was that we couldn't get a sunset cruise in before we left so that's on top of our list for our next trip.
We loved the local beach and Kevin (who was mentioned in the information from Heather) was our go to guy. He was a great little business man and could get anything you wanted. We had a couple of really relaxing days at the beach and one day was a Sunday and the local bar/restaurant Santi has live music on Sunday evenings so we had a great time singing along to every song by the great band 1359.
Restaurants: CinCin was exquisite but pricey. Definitely worth the dress up though. We really liked the Fish Pot restaurant in Speightstown and Oistins Fish fry on a Friday is a worthwhile trip. No frills, but great food and great value for money. Go hungry! Zaccios actually delivered food to the house on our first night as we didn't get the car delivered till the next day. The food was surprisingly good, and was delivered hot. Everywhere we ate we were happy! Lonestar has a superb breakfast and the best setting.
Basically, a great vacation was had by all and we cannot wait to go back! Thanks Heather for all your help making this a truly wonderful stay.

We had an amazing 10 days staying at Porters to celebrate my husbands birthday with our family .
The house was everything we could have hoped for, beautifully decorated , comfortable , well situated , everything you could want for a relaxing break and with great attention to detail. We hired a car but Holetown is very accessible as are the lovely local beaches , restaurants , shops etc. Having stayed at many rentals around the world I would say this house is a real gem and a fantastic base for an exceptional holiday

Having just stayed at Porters Gate for the last ten days with my husband and two friends I can only say that the villa was a home from home, with lots of sunshine!!! It was tastefully decorated, very well equipped and comfortable. The garden was a joy to sit in at any time of the day, and the plunge pool was refreshing to come back to after a day sightseeing/beach etc. There wasn't anything we could fault.
