We stayed in the three bedroom villa which is set just up from the pool in the gardens (which are very nicely landscaped). The hotel itself is a bit old fashioned but equally that is part of the charm but you can tell that very little money has been invested into it in many years except for the odd repaint.
What does somewhat let the hotel down is the lack of five star touches. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by a pretty standard minibus rather than the "luxury transfer" advertised, maybe we had slightly misaligned expectations here.
The Villa itself is nice but someone has clearly made a decision to only renovate one of the three rooms with the two ground floor rooms looking pretty unchanged and dated with the bathrooms straight out of the 1980s. I have stayed in three star hotels with nicer bathrooms. It is such a shame when corners are so obviously cut for the sake of not spending money.
The evening canapés were also a slight joke (photo attached) as they consisted of whatever leftovers the kitchen had that day, usually cold fish balls. Please can someone at the hotel google "canapés" for some inspiration.
The tennis courts are also in need of a good jetwash and repaint as they were cracked and tired, again not what you would expect from a Fairmont.
There are however some really nice features of the hotel, the beach setting is incredible, probably the nicest beach on the island and we did not have any issue getting sun loungers. The gardens, landscaping and pool are also very nice and make the hotel relatively unique.
The staff were also brilliant with the concierges being very helpful and the maid service being really flexible and leaving the rooms immaculate.
