We spent the 2nd week of our holiday here and although the hotel is very nice there are things that need to looked at.
The pool bar staff are very miserable. I would not say rude but a bit of a smile and banter would be good. Its the male staff I speak off. Makes you feel a bit like there doing you a favour getting you a drink.
The sunloungers are very comfortable and they lay towels out ready for you to put on the beds. You need these towels to cover the bird mess that is everywhere. Small tables next to beds never cleaned while we were there so again bird mess on them. They seem to suffer from a bird problem here which I have not had at any other hotel in barbados and ive been to a few. That leads me to breakfast time where the birds are allowed to help themselves to anything thats uncovered in the food hall. Why can the hotel not provide food covers for everything? this would not be hard. to me this is unacceptable and very unhygenic. The hot food is covered but not the fruit or cheeses etc.
We were bed abd breakfast which i am glad as the food we did have was not good. The first lunch we had, mine was taken off the bill. Ok I had a pizza in the carribean but i fancied one..... It was a frozen pizza with excessive amount of cheese thrown on to try and make.it look home made. If you cant make a pizza take it off the menu. The food is very expensive and no where near to the standard it should be for the money. We did not have dinner here due to the lunch Standard so i cant comment on that.
There are plenty of lovely food restaurants nearby.
Our room was amazing we had a swim up room which was worth the extra money. best air con ive ever had and very clean.
We had a lovely stay but i must say i was expecting more from this hotel.
All these things could be easily put right by management and are obviously clear to see so they should not need telling. Birds on your food is not hard to see so why leave food uncovered.
Drinks here are twice the price of bouganivillea where we stayed the first week.

An elegant and tranquil hotel with a beautiful pool area and stunning beach. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Great poolside bar and spacious gardens and loungers. Definitely going to visit again.

We had a swim up room which was lovely and found the pool area also great.
Main criticisms would be the food. It was average at best and with a hefty unjust price tag.
I’m not sure what could be done or why it was such a problem here when not at other hotels we’ve stayed at half a mile away but the birds at breakfast and lunch were intolerable and made dining very stressful as they would be on your plate if you left your seat for a second. Also you get pooped on and there was a lot of bird poop on the seats and tables.

Price tag not quite justified, we have stayed at Mango Bay previously and would probably pick there over Colony Club for value and location.

A lovely hotel with lovely staff and very beautiful setting, relaxing and delicious food Lots of nearby amazing restaurants, There are monkeys that visit the hotel; however, we did not see any. You have to get up early and be very lucky.

We visited the Colony Club recently 14 Nights Aug 2019 and want to thank Joanna and all her team for a wonderful stay. We enjoyed it so much we booked a return visit whilst still on holiday.

I feel compelled to leave a review after reading others as this is really a great colonial styled hotel in a wonderful location with a fabulous beach. I feel it’s a little unfair to compare it to more modern luxury Asian hotels as it’s not that kind of place.

The hotel restaurant offers a variable dinner menu and a far more casual and relaxed all day menu both in the restaurant and on the sun deck . We enjoyed the meals

From the moment we arrived back at the Colony Clubs we were greeted by Shecwin ( a really great guy and credit to the hotel ) who remembered us .

The vast majority of staff in this hotel are upbeat cheerful ,polite and happy In their work especially Ebony . There are only couple out of very many we spoke to from all departments (no names mentioned) that should consider a career / department change as front of house and client / guest facing hospitality is absolutely not their thing.

My only other slight niggle if I had one is during happy hour 4-6 pm daily ALL drinks and cocktails should be half price and we missed the beach ambassadors bringing round little snacks and ice creams during the day as part of the standard service .... this was a nice touch and goes a long way .

The water sports guys were superb again especially Keyon and Jamar who are fantastic with children nothing was too much trouble. Out children had a great time sailing -kayaking- paddle boarding and enjoyed the speedboat ride -rings and the banana boat.

Our accommodation was a one bed ocean view suite was great , it was well appointed and fully serviced daily to a very high standard.

Overall I would absolutely recommend this hotel if your looking to just chill out and relax. Joanna and her staff from the front desk to the maintaince guys in my experience will do their absolute best to ensure you have an enjoyable stay at their hotel .

Thanks again to all the staff that looked after us so very well .
