This well arranged villa has pretty much all you need for a family break in Barbados, if, like us, you are not a fan of hotels/resorts.
Positives: The beds were comfortable, the lounge was roomy, and there was good quality aircon in the bedrooms. The location of the villa is good, near to some great beaches and only 10 minutes from Holetown, where we ended up spending most of our holiday!! Limited cable tv in comparison with UK but were able to get some Premier League football and Rugby so the guys were happy!! Well stocked kitchen, in terms of being able to self cater. Wifi - there were five of us, between us we had 5 ipads, 2 iphones, 3 android smartphones and a laptop, and we were able to run all of them off the wifi - there were just a couple of times when the wifi went down, but I think this is pretty normal for Barbados! The owners are friendly, and the maid was really helpful, even calling us when there had been a storm to make sure we were ok and there were no problems at the villa. One really useful thing is the landline telephone that makes free calls WITHIN Barbados - meaning you can book a table at your favourite restaurant etc without having to make an expensive call on your mobile.
Negatives: We don't have anything "bad" to say, but if we were being pushed this is the best we could come up with .... the pool is smaller than we anticipated (but not smaller than advertised as no dimensions are given in the advert), and was adequate, but not big enough to swim lengths in. Could do with air-con in the lounge. There are a few things in the advert that weren't there when we got there, or we couldn't find them(!) - predominantly a Wii and an Ipod dock. It is quite close to a main highway (ie it is the first house off the highway when you turn into the estate) so there is some road noise, especially early morning. A welcone pack would be nice - even if there was a charge for is - we didn't get to the villa till 6.30pm and then had to go shopping which was a bit of rush, and tiring after a long day travelling.
Note: The Trip Advisor advert is inaccurate, stating that there is a game room and a pool table - there isn't - but the advert on Owners Direct does not advertise these things, so we knew before we went that this was an inaccuracy and not to expect them.
Summary: If you want Barbados in the Simon Cowell league, then this is not the villa for you. However, if you want Barbados at a price the everyday person can afford, then you would probably be happy staying here. It has all you need for a self catering stay on this wonderful island. It's ideal, out of town, location means a car is essential.
