Waterside Villas South Coast Kenya
Just a few days stay at Waterside Villas will en-trance you forever in the magic of its idyllic existence. The dramatic setting will capture your imagination as you stand at the top of the pool gazing at the mighty Royal Palms which make a clear statement of magnificence in respect of the setting that is Waterside Villas at Tiwi.
If you wish to get close as possible to nature then you could not choose a better place for its tranquility and sheer peacefulness. You can watch the dragonflies flirting with the sea breeze and the many types of butterfly fluttering overhead and darting from flower to flower. The dragonfly lets the breeze catch its wings and beguiles the wind to make it look as though it is riding the waves of the sea.
The awesomeness of the great ocean can be seen all day long from the comfort of the many sofas and divans situated strategically throughout the villa. Impossible to get tired of watching the ocean with the white breakers right in front of you. The ocean is constantly changing with the tides from early morning to nightfall. Depending on the sunlight the colours range from deep blue to emerald green.
Where sky meets sea there is a clear defined line as if drawn by some talented artist and in front of that line lies the magnificent sea with its deep blue colours speckled by the clear white of the breakers.
Above the horizon line is the light blue sky without a single cloud and the sun shines overhead only to disappear at nightfall.
The pool lies in the centre of the villa and as the dappled sunlight is refracted through the ripples of the shimmering water there are two small fountains of water which cascade in a crescendo on either side of the shallow end over the edge of a parapet into the main pool.
At a certain time in the afternoon (about 4pm) you can catch the sunlight being reflected off the water in the pool onto the overhanging green leaves of the nearby trees. No video can capture this sight or convey the atmosphere of the entire scene displayed in front of you or the ambience of the Villas. Closer to nature it is difficult to get and here the opportunity of being so close to nature is brought home at night time when you look up into the sky and see the stars in the night sky displayed so clearly without the need for a telescope. At such a time we may realize that we human beings are as much a part of nature and the universe as the biggest star or the smallest ant roaming the land.
Your every need will be taken care of by the staff and if for any reason you need to remain in contact with the outside world then WIFI is available.
We stayed as a group of 9 adults (we all live/work in Nairobi) and chose the house based on the beautiful pictures and great reviews - we were not disappointed! The house is absolutely amazing, loads of space for everyone to chill out separately or together, play games, have meals and most of all swim in the awesome pool!
The house comes with 3 members of staff including a chef so we would recommend either having someone go do your shopping or if you are coming from Ukunda (Diani airport) doing a Nakumatt shop on the way and once you arrive, let the team know exactly what you want to eat and when. Bring lots of your own drinking water too and don't forget spices and cooking oil. The quality of their cooking is fantastic - you can order Prawns in advance and we got red snapper and lobsters fresh on the day! Next door is a hotel where you get access to a small beach which was fun for snorkelling - though watch out for sea urchins! The hotel sells water and alcohol so if you run out you can restock there as well.
Overall - we loved it, really really hard to leave this place! The house is down a very long track and is about 15 mins from the main road so you'll need your own transport but it adds to the total serenity of the place and we would definitely come back!
I loved this villa and its setting, I met with my family here for some much needed relaxation and family time. the villa is huge and the 7 of us had plenty of room, the deco is lovely spacious and open with great views.
I was met at the airport by Daniel and it was an hour and a half drive to the villa with a short ferry crossing.
the staff at the villa consisted of a butler Daniel, housekeeper mildred, and chef peter.
mildred was super and anticipated our every need especially waking up to a cup of tea!!
the pool in the middle was perfect but with only 2 sunbeds we had to do rotations when it came to sunbathing. beach access is gained from the hotel next door and you can enjoy a nice walk at low tide with many rock pools to explore.
if your looking to go out and explore the property is not ideally placed for walking as it is around 2km from main road, we had to arrange a driver every time we wanted to go out which really added to our expense, however we made the most of our trips out as Daniel our driver would stay with us to take us shopping, jet sking or coffee and lunch and until we were ready to return to the villa. mike and sabine were great in arranging an over night safari for us and can give you plenty of advice, chatting with them was always a pleasure as mike was happy to help with our needs and make us feel welcome.
so if your looking to just relax and unwind then waterside villa is ideal.
Some friends and I booked out this villa for a week in June.
It was the perfect place to relax, chill out, and a great base from which to explore Diani and the surrounding area.
Mike (the owner) is a gracious and accommodating host. The staff were excellent and took great care of us. Helpful, friendly, courteous and discreet. The chef is excellent and worked wonders with all the ingredients we bought from the local supermarket. The staff were also able to source fresh seafood from the local fishermen, which was delicious.
The villa design is unique and a creation of Mike's own imagination. The rooms are all very spacious and comfortable. The villa has lots of day beds scattered around the place, so you are never short of a place to crash out with a book and a nice cool drink. The pool is the centre-piece of the property and has a split level design overlooking the gardens and the ocean.
From the villa, you can walk down to the beach but access is limited at high tide so bear this in mind.
We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend to friends and family.

We had a really fantastic time at Waterside. The building style is unique and amazing. The pool in the middle is just the perfect place to spend an afternoon with an amazing view out to the see. And the staff was amazing. They anticipated everything we needed. We had a B utler, housekeeper and Chef. The Chef did a great Job at every single meal. We would just bring something home and he would trsansorm it into something great. We had plenty of fresh seafood on offer at our doorstep. We will definately be back.
Thanks Aussie Mike for a great week.
