My wife and I had a delicious mother's day brunch here today. Kings Road, sadly, remains a rather dreary part of Hastings but you should ignore that and seek out The Wine Shed which puts the chic into shabby.
They offer a varied brunch menu of classics and originals with a comprehensive and accessible wine list. We both had eggs benedict, featuring delightfully crispy bacon, with a bottle of very acceptable Delamotte Brut champagne.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
All in all a very pleasant surprise!

Love the venue, staff and food and some of the wine is fantastic for the price; a wine shop too. The owner very knowledgeable. Only thing is that the food may be a bit overpriced for the amount you get and having been there several times now, I think they need to come up with a change of menu.

We decided to try this restaurant on a Saturday evening. From the street it is warm and inviting with the candles alight. We were seated with a friendly smile from the waitress and decided to order the crab, leek and parmesan tart to start as well as the pumpkin soup. For mains we ordered the ribeye steak and the venison and salt pork. All meals were cooked perfectly and were very tasty and hot.
For dessert we shared a cheeseboard which you choose from the cabinet at the back of the restaurant. Our only gripe was that the cheeseboard is served with bread and we would of much preferred biscuits/crackers. We ordered a coffee each but with no chocolate:( to finish the meal off.
We enjoyed our evening and would definitely return in the future.

Great atmosphere with lovely wine and the best starters - pear and blue cheese is delicious along with haddock chowder.

Lovely waitress - friendly, welcoming. Happy to go and ask when we asked a question she didn't know the answer to. Suggested a wonderful aperitif, which was served in the traditional style. This made the night really special.
Lovely atmosphere, even at the beginning when they were few other customers.
Menu was not too long, which is far better than having too much choice. Would happily have eaten most things on the menu so it was well balanced and well thought out. The attention we got from the waitress was perfect - not too intrusive but there when we needed something.
The only slight gripe is the lack of provenance. Yes, the food came from a local butcher, but that is no guarantee that the meat is good quality or has been raised to higher welfare standards. It tasted great, so possibly it was, but that information wasn't available. When I am paying close to £20 for a main meal, I would expect more.
But in the end this did not detract from a wonderful meal. I would definitely go back. Thank you
