This hotel under the "Logis" umbrella has minimal frills (if any) but it provided us with exceptional value. We used it as a stopover on our way to Castro Urdiales but I think it provides a good base for walkers - it's more of guest house with facilities. Our room was fine as indeed were the en suite facilities. On the night that we stayed there was no choice re the evening meal - I forgot what we had but it was superb together with the jug of wine. Yes, I'd recommend the Baratxartea

A stones throw from the Hamlet of Sare atop a rise facing a paddock of sheep we passed a restful night after a wonderful dinner of palombo (pigeon) a la Armagnac. The husband is a wonderful chef and his cheerful wife looked after us well. The room is simple with a balcony that faces the fading hills before the Pyrenees. The bed was not the best and we both woke up with sore backs. Nevertheless I highly recommend
