“If you like meat and cheese....”
Review of Bombetta London

Bombetta London
Price range: US$18 - US$45
Description: A little history: Bombetta is originally from the farming communities of Puglia where the land was devoted to olive groves, and room to grow trees for firewood was scarce. As fuel was precious, farm workers would head to the local butcher and feast on bombette from his communal oven. This meat would often be rolled up into a little bundle and contain bits of cheese or be held together by cured meat. A delicious food and a tradition based on community, eating and sharing together was born. And now it's here...

Had an excellent christmas meal here with work. If you like traditional italian cured meats, amazing cheese and general glutony this may well be the place for you! Be prepared such gastronomic delights do carry a premium though. I will definitely be returning!

I love the decor of the place, i feel like i was on holiday sitting in their little conservatory bit which was nice and warm with blankets available and fairy lights..

The staffs were all really friendly and attentive and they would recommend items if you ask.

We were a party of four and we tried the cured meat and cheese sharing plate. it was really nice specially the cheeses. We all had different bombettes as our mains and i feel it was nice to try but it does remind me of a slightly bigger version of pig in blanket. Bombettes comes with little bit of salad and 3 slices of bread. Fries had to be ordered as extra and sauces also need to be ordered as extra.

With drinks and 2 desserts the total came up to be about £140 which i thought was a little bit over priced. It was nice to have experienced something hard to find but personally I am not in love with it.

After not been out for a while, I was looking forward to going somewhere new!
The place is beside the station, actually on the approach to the station and not really much to look at but once you get inside its very small, but good atmosphere, trendy and very popular.
There were few tables. We had a table, but others were at the a bar type counter where you could also eat.
Waiter was enthusiastic, informative and attentive mostly.
Food-starters were really, really nice. We had pigs cheek bruschetta and arancini. All very nice!
But our mains were not so nice.
We had bombette which was so tough and dry, and just really unappealing in my view. I would never ever have it again. I'm sure that there are much nicer mains you can get there.
We also had a 'special', which was an artichoke heart...well this was super tough. The outer leaves had not been removed...so just hard leaves with not much else at all!
We didn't stay to try the dessert!

We had a table for four and the food was good but not delicious (try Cicchetti in Covent Garden for finger licking good Italian). Food 3.5 stars.
Evening started well, waiter was a lovely and attentive gentleman of Asian descent.
After 2 hrs, another fellow tells us "we need the table in 20 mins, do you want desert or coffee?". We ordered some, which were nice, but again, nothing special.
Eighteen minutes later, the bill is given to us.
It was quite pricey at over fifty pounds a head.
The same witer came back two minutes later and, basically, we had to pay and get out.
When we protested, he said "we only have tables for two hours, you had two hours twenty" ... Hello?! - is that 'service' ?
The atmosphere became a bit frostier; when you have an evening with friends you have not seen for a while, it's not the evening or the ending you envisage.
They could have asked us to move to the bar, with a small drink, even a coffee, on the house, or something.
Not recommended.

I do love this little gem of a restaurant. We have eaten here approximately four times and have never been disappointed. There is always something just that little bit different on the menu. The wine is a tat expensive but always good.
I love the atmosphere and the friendly service. Really worth a visit.
