Pleasant place to stop if you are touring the island. Roadside stall for refreshments. Not sure it would be worth a special journey.

What a wonderful day out in the mountains, driving around the winding roads, going higher and higher. The colours on the rocks are spectacular, having being left by the minerals deposited so so long ago........a most interesting display. The weather was fine when we set off and were able to stop for photos, but later, the mist came down over the mountain tops, making a wonderful and dramatic picture. Noticed water running down the gulleys and a few isolated houses.....would need to be self sufficient to live here !
Stopped at Las Canados for lunch, which is a very typical and authentic restaurant, and obviously popular with the locals on a Sunday. So tasted lots of typical dishes including pork which was cooked on their open fire, cocidos ( stew of potatoes, chickpeas, chorizo ) all very tasty, finished off with lovely desserts and apple liqueur. A very interesting place as it has a little museum, full of old typewriters, sewing machines, telephones and everything you can think of, as well as a bedroom set out from years ago ! Plus an outside cage of salamanders, which I at first thought was a stone one as it never moved , and a pond of turtles........an amazing place !! Well recommended visit to Veneguera........breathtaking views, and those beautiful colours too.

Unusually coloured geological rock formations caused by oxidation on the side of GC200 leading from Mógan to La Aldea. The name Fuente de los Azulejos means "fountain of tiles", because of these multicoloured rocks resembling tile colours. At one of the vantage points is a fruit market that has one of the best juices I have ever had. This is an ideal stop to stare along the winding road.

Beautiful multi-color geologic formations by the road from Mógan to La Aldea de San Nicolás de Tolentino. The same kind of formations you can see in Death Valley in California. Really cool!

Really interesting rock formations and unusual colours. A good place to stop if you are having a day driving in the mountains. There are several places to view the rock formations from. One has a fruit and smoothie stop too. For keen photographers it is worth getting here as early as driving these roads in daylight will allow as the colours can get washed out later in the day.
