We had a short stay with our teenager. The room size was adequate, but after a portable single bed was added for our daughter, the room was a little cramped. Lovely range of toiletries however, and a good complimentary tray (water every day). The breakfast was excellent, but did take on a more family orientated atmopshere with lots of young children serving themselves breakfast, prams being wheeled in, highchairs at the table - but of course this a family friendly place. The table service was efficient and attentive and the range and quality of food of to a high standard. Poolside staff were excellent and both pools outside are in a beatuful setting (but cold). As Sintra has its own microclimate, it did get very windy on most days and this made the outdoor seating area a bit too fresh to sit about. The grounds were extensive and there were walks to follow. The spa was a bit of a let down. The women's spa was often overun with children and prams. The steam room and sauna are single-sex, so you can't relax wth your spouse/partner of the opposite sex.The staff make this hotel very special - they are helpful and professional. The hotel is immaculately presented. You need a car to be able to get about, as the resort is in the middle of nowhere. The towns of Cascais, Esteril and Sintra are within a short drive, and Lisbon is easy to get to by car.

From the second you drive up to the Penha Longa you feel like royalty. The Staff is second to none. They way they make you feel is incredible. From helping you at checking to taking your bags to making restaurant reservations, they could not do enough. The rooms are beautiful as well as the entire property. I did not get to play gold but the course looks amazing as you can see it from some rooms and the pool. The pool area was really nice and the double lounge chairs were great. They also have an adult pool if you are not in the mood to listen to kids. The pool staff was super helpful in getting us set up and they serve food and drinks at the pool as well.
The restaurants on property were great .
If I had one bit of criticism it was the carpet looked a bit worn throughout the hotel and rooms, probably should be changed at some point.
Over all I give them an A+

We stayed here with our two young children (age 1 and 3). The hotel is very child friendly with a kids check-in area, friendly staff and a great play room. The rooms were beautiful and they provided a cot and welcome pack for the little ones. I really liked these little gestures.
However, dinners could be rather tricky as we struggled to get a reservation on our first night and were told that we couldn’t eat until 9pm despite me explaining we had a 1 year old who was hungry. In the end, they re-opened the poolside restaurant for us for a quick meal. On the other nights, we booked early sittings in advance.
The grounds are stunning, and my kids enjoyed the pools too. I felt somewhat irritated to have to buy swim hats for the whole family for the indoor pool. Given the room rates, I felt they should either provide hats free of charge (especially for the children), or advise guests beforehand via email or on the website regarding swim hats.

This was our first stop of 3 places during our trip to Portugal. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the wonderful staff and general manager who checked us in promptly.

The room initially had a musty smell but once you opened the balcony doors, the fresh air took over.

The bedding was extremely comfortable and the kids loved the treats that were left at turn down service.

The pool area is lovely and no matter where you go there is always someone to greet you/ help you. The pool bar food was decent and the basket of bottled water was perfect ... needless to say, no where else on our trip was water so easy to obtain!!

Filipe who works in the gin bar was always ready with a warm and friendly smile and knew our preferred drink from day one.

Getting to the other restaurants on the property was a bit of a task one day as we headed down the outside stairs and never saw a sign and ended up cutting through an outdoor wedding. Perhaps some better signage at the top of the stairs would be helpful.

Our kids had a blast at the outdoor playground area and we even played a fun round of golf.

We also visited the off property restaurant that is associated with the hotel and was not disappointed. The hotel shuttled us over there. The food was delicious and again, the service was outstanding and made us feel so welcome.

We loved the idea of a resort versus a crammed city hotel room. We even extended our stay for another night because the next stop on our itinerary just wasn’t as nice. Would highly recommend coming here!

Very nice resort. Had everything one would expect, but lacked that "wow" factor which would make it really special.

The service was very good and everyone was very accommodating. Rooms were decent size, beds were very comfortable. Met expectations but did not exceed them.

Great choice of restaurants, Midori was outstanding. Aqua (casual pool dining) was very average and overpriced in my opinion. Breakfast had enough choice. Service in the mornings was struggling due to the high traffic.

The front desk was the standout for me. Very helpful and polite. They tried very hard to make sure we were well looked after.

Overall very nice resort to consider if you want a break in Portugal, but there is lots of competition.
