Located within minutes of Lucca and Pisa, nestled in the hillside of a small village, It is a great place to relax and get away from it all. The main building is a restored farm house and olive press.
The room we had was large and comfortable and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was traditional and good.
We had a lovely view of the valley and it was an easy walk to the local village and the people were we meet were friendly and the food in the village was good.
In the week we spent there we made several trips to Lucca and the surrounding area.
Internet service provided by the local ISP is slow.

Room Tip: The front rooms in the main building catch the breeze and have a lovely view of the village and valley.

A LITTLE rough around the edges here & there but the pros of Hotel Villa Rinascimento (translates to: Renaissance) far outweighed the cons in our opinion. Only an easy 25-ish minute drive from Pisa airport, Stunning views from the moment you drive up its cobbled driveway, very nice & helpful staff (Adele & the groundsman especially), a beautiful infinity (?) pool with stunning views, comfortable loungers & chairs etc > very easy to stay at all day, the breakfast buffet was perfectly good & very nice to eat it outside every morning. On the downside one or two small trip hazards; nevertheless I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful hotel. [:o)

When we first arrived at this hotel we were absolutely amazed by the views and the location of the villa. Really beautiful, the grounds looked well kept. In short everything looked perfect for a nice and relaxing stay at this hotel.

Our room was also simple but ok. No great luxury, which we didn't expect in this price range of hotels. Our room was located in the annex building, we did hear from some other travelers that the rooms in the main building were a little less ok, but that seems to me like a price to pay for staying in an authentic old villa like this. A downside to staying in the annex is the wifi signal which is quite weak compared to the main building (no Netflix for me :P ).

That being said... The food at this hotel is horrible. Nothing we received at our table was freshly prepared, everything either came from a tin, a jar, a bag and most of the time right out of the freezer. A real shame if you know that real Italian food would be just as cheap and simple to prepare. It would only require some additional care and effort.

The gastronomic nightmare unfortunately continued at breakfast. The cutlery was dirty. It often looked like it had only been rinsed quickly, rather than properly washed. The buffet looked rather empty most of the time, the coffee was absolutely undrinkable, not too weak or too strong, just undrinkable.
The products offered at breakfast were also of questionable quality and not always very fresh. The cheese would be dried around the edges, the ham would have that vale color as if the pig was screaming: 'Don't eat me, I'm expired!'. The salami was ok and sometimes there was some watermelon to brighten our mornings.

The cleaning service of the rooms was rather basic, but ok. The hotel staff was friendly most of the time. There were some issues with management though. Our complaint about the food was taken rather indifferently and after we changed our booking to breakfast only (through our travel agency, because the hotel wasn’t interested in solving the issue on the spot…), a good morning, evening or good night seemed a bit hard to pronounce.

The swimming pool is beautifully located a little higher on the hill. Unfortunately I think there was a problem with the filter during the largest part of our stay, which resulted in quite a dirty pool after a while. The last few days, this problem was seemingly solved and the water quality did improve a lot.

We spent 1 week at villa Rinascimento and enjoyed our holiday. We had a room in the annex building which was spacious and clean. The beds where below standard and the room was a bit noisy ( could hear neighbours) but nothing a set of ear plugs cant fix.
Food in restaurant was ok, breakfast was ok but quite simple.
1 of the neigbours of the hotel has an annoying dog which barks all day long, sad for the dog and for the hotel guests who want to relax at the pool.
Location nice, short drive to go to Pisa and Lucca or the beach.
All in all it was not expensive so value for money was good, enjoyed our holiday.

We have been visiting the villa since 2008. We married here in 2010 and have been back every few years since. The hotel and staff are so lovely. The hotel is perfect only short drive from Pisa and Lucca and easily accessible to Florence on the train and some wonderful views from the panoramic views. There are some great local restaurants near by. We love it here its great for everyone. X
