this was the third spot for tourism in Pelling. there is a bird aviary coexisting with the ruins. the aviary is nothing great and you only find a few pheasants there. would probably be better once they put more birds in, but the ruins are interesting as they were once the capital before it got shifted. only thing is there is decent walk of about three quarters of a kilometer slightly uphill. once there, you get a lovely view from the top.

Rabdentse Ruins is the ruins of the capital of Sikkim. It was the second capital of Sikkim after Yuksom. Now this site is maintained by Archeological Survey Of India, Kolkata. A new Bird Park(SidKeong Bird Park) is inaugurated near the Ruins.

Located at about 2.5 kms from Pelling, One needs to walk about a 1km from the main gate to visit the Ruins. The walk through the forest or off road is intriguing. The ruins are very old and most of place was under maintenance when we visited. You can view the pemayangtse monastery from here and also the view is breathtaking.

One need to walk though a sloppy path covered with trees for 15 minutes before reaching the ruins. The fort/palace has most of the side walls and steps intact. There are no ceiling . Different platforms are at different heights. so the visitors have to climb now and then

If you are a history buff, then these ruins are worth visiting. What was especially impressive was hearing the chanting from the monastery on top of an adjacent hill.
