Very much enjoyed our stay. We had the superkingsize bed room, the bed is fine, and there is a bath in the bathroom, it is better than the shower. The road junction is busy but we didn't find the room noisy - the window is double glazed and we had it closed anyway. Maybe in the summer this might be a problem. Nice warm lounge with a coal fired stove. Julie is very friendly. The location is great for walks in the area. The hills mean lovely views. Didn't really go for Matlock Bath which is a bit like Blackpool or Brighton, lots of bikers especially on Sunday, amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and tacky illuminations.

As always we chose this accomodation from reading the excellent reviews and have to agree with every point, ie rooms, Julie the Landlady, breakfast, welcome and comfort.
We stayed for two nights in a super kingsize room. The comfort of the bed was on a par with our own at home. The flat screen television was indeed large. The room was a great place for relaxing in after spending the day sightseeing.
The bathroom was clean and comfortable, though no bath, only an unlit shower. Towels, soap, tissues, toiletries all provided.
What we struggle to understand from reviews is that no-one has mentioned the fact that the accomodation sits on a busy road with frequent HGV traffic, particularly from early morning around 5am. As we were looking to enjoy a quiet break we did not enjoy this as our early alarm call. So bear in mind if you are looking for a quiet few days.

Room Tip: Enquire if any rooms have a bath.

As with many B & Bs in the area due to steep sided valleys we are on a main road. Maybe the other reviewers realised that the A5012 denoted this and noise from it was of no real concern to them. However, all the rooms are double glazed. We do try to make our home as comfortable as possible for our guests which we feel is reflected in our reviews. You did book a room with shower which incidently is large enough for two people. We do have two superkingsize bedded rooms with bath and shower facilities. One of these was available and we would have moved you if you had requested a room with a bath. Regarding lighting we do tend to use energy saving bulbs and they can take some time to warm up. We feel they produce more than adequate light. Julie Boden.

Booked the super kingsize room as a treat for a long weekend away. Really glad we did. Room was spacious, has beamed ceiling and a huge TV should you want to wind down the evening.
On arrival we were shown round, had a coffee and biscuits brought to us and had a chat with Julie. Really friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
Had 3 really good nights sleep, and 3 amazing breakfasts which are enough to keep you going till tea time.
Everywhere is spotless and has a feeling of a home from home, rather than stopping in a B&B.
The walk up to Bonsall is steep, but its downhill on the way back, and Cromford is a 10 minute stroll at most. Easy access to the A6 or A515 for those going further north, and a great place to base yourself to explore.
Would recommend to anyone

Room Tip: Super Kingsized room is lovely, worth the extra £5 if you like a spacious bed

We spent 5 days exploring the Peak District and the Pig of Lead was the perfect base. The room was comfortable, clean and large with a nice big TV. The breakfast, especially the bacon, was delicious and Julie our host was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this excelent B&B.
