We had a lovely dinner with the family and were very well taken care of by the owner and what I presume was his family.

The food, specially the "Bacalhau" and the local wine served by the glass were fantastic. The cuisine focuses on Alentejo fare, a region in Portugal nearby. Enormous portions and great value for money.

They have a map of the world marking the places of origin of their foreign visitors which is a nice added touch.

I was there two times with my family during our stay in Caxais, and both visits were really great. First of all you feel really welcome from the moment you enter the nice room with white tablecloth on all the tables showing everyone that here is a place where they really do an effort.
And that is basically what we liked the most about the place, that the host and the waitress, and the kitchen off course, really did all they could to make you happy.
We had nice steaks, great homemade chips, decent house-wine and excellent desserts (chocolate mouse and a local pumpkin pie).
Prices were absolutely fair. And our baby slept in the "wagon" next to our table for more than two hours. A great prove of the nice and quiet atmosphere in there.

This is a small restaurant but of huge quality!
The only problem here is to choose what you are going to eat, because ALL is really really good.
Authentically prepared, great tastes and great great service.
TRULY recommend it! And will go there myself hopefully soon again!

Sophisticated Alentejo food in a very nice space, with jazzy soft music. Much choice in typical entries, great quality too. Not so much choice and a bit heavy on the seasoning in the main dishes, but excellent house wine. Dessert alone should be enough for a visit.

The gastronomy is based on the traditional portuguese food regional of Alentejo. The staff is friendly, and the environment is relaxing.
