Best place to relax for family. Statues are very nice. Good way constructed. But lighting smokes are spoiling the temple originality. Central team should take care of these pollutions.

Situated on the banks of Palar River, Vellore is a historically rich city that has appeared many times in chapters of Indian history. Being an integral part of Tamil Nadu, Vellore draws the picture of deep- rooted Tamil culture being practiced in the region since generations. It is strongly attached with Hindu Gods and Goddess and one can get a clear reflection of traditional Tamil customs and rituals being carried out in the temples.

The historical Vellore Fort houses one of the finest examples of Vijaynagar architecture, the Jalakandeswarar Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is worshipped here in the form of Jalakandeswarar. It is one of the ancient temples in India that houses a well inside its complex that is considered to be Ganga. The main deity of Jalakandeswarar in the form of Linga with Rudraksha Mala is found inside the garba griha.

Unfortunately, this temple remained closed for a considerable time period when its main deity was shifted to a distant place. The deity was later brought back to the main complex and is now worshipped by hundreds of devotees throughout the year.
