Right on the beach with great views of the bay! The rooms and building itself is in desperate need of a facelift. For what seems like a small investment this place could really be cleaned up nicely. We had a safe experience but only spent one night here as it felt a little dirty and there was no wifi. ($30/night for a double room)

The place was clean, the room was large and cheap for what it offers, the balcony absolutely stunning with a wonderful view on Taganga beach and the Caribe, especially nice considering you can watch it from a wide and comfortable hammock just outside your room... they also have lovely breakfasts and jugos, and you step out of here just in the sandy beach of Taganga... I don't understand bad reviews about this place, as it was one of the best hostels I've ever found

we were there in 2010. i couldnt find it on trip advisor at the time...

the room was ok.... but thats not the problem with this place....

the staff were a bit rude. the next door neighbor is one of the local drug dealers and also connected in some way to the hostel. Between them they entered our room and the room next door via the shared balcony, in the early hours while we were sleeping and took our bags. we were all then woken at 6am by the bloke working in the hostel to be told that we had been robbed at about 4am. the neighbour saw the thief running away over the roof. 'luckily' for us the thief dropped all of the non-valuable items in and around the hostel neighbours house! so he was very happy that he was able to be so kind and help us by giving our things back!

Thankfully they dont want to nick credit cards, passports or clothes, so thats what we got back. no sign of the money, cameras or sun glasses though.

we never worked out why we were robbed at 4am and not told until 6am ... but it was probably because they took a long time to divide all of our stuff equally between them.... minus a cut for the police of course, so did show up, listened to the story and then left.

Room Tip: one in another hostel.

we chose this place cause its right at the beach with nice views from the rooms, nice hammocks... It was 25000 per person or, if alone 40000 pesos per room and worth it. It's very basic but the really friendly staff will help you out with everything you need. It felt safe for us and the people were very tolerant with waking up for letting us in any time even when we arrived back at 4 am ..
Better location than all those famous hostels which are all way more up and far from the beach

Arrived in Taganga intent on staying on the beach because there's quite a few of hostals along the beach. We priced a few, and they all seemed quite average but on a very outdated Lonely Planet recommendation we went to Casa Blanca. The girl in reception had great English and initially quoted us CP60,000 a night! That was DOUBLE what the LP said and what other hostels were charging but it was because "they didn't have a lot of rooms available" she said. When we laughed it off and left the premises she came running after us & said a room had just become available & she could let us have it for CP35,000! We were a bit miffed but keen to stay there as the location is great, so we looked at the room which had its own bathroom and decided we were happy with it.
The hostel kitchen was disgusting - we attempted to cook here once, but found it near impossible as it's very poorly equipped - broken saucepans, frying pans with no handles (!?), very few utensils, and when you spotted something you might be able to use, it was usually dirty & lying in dirty dish water. There were also ants crawling around and tons of flies. We kept some ham and cheese in the fridge so that we could at least make sandwiches for the beach & our food went missing, even though it had been labelled. We complained and reception seemed pretty blasé about it, it was only when we got really angry and threatened to leave that they offered to replace the items.
The room itself was a bit grubby and run down looking, much like the rest of the hostel. Some of the rooms have hammocks outside on their balconies and sea-views. Our hammock contained an old tube of toothpaste, which was interesting!
I'd recommend this hostel if you're on a tight budget & staying with friends in a shared dorm room as you would probably be able to bargain them down quite a bit. It's right at the end of the beach, so it's really quiet at night which is great when you fancy some sleep and it's wonderful to wake up to the sound of the waves in the morning and quite literally step onto the beach.
There's a little restaurant next to the hostal too, we ate there once but found it quite pricey for what we got.
