Azara Bistro is not what one expects to find in the sleepy beach town of Cuchilla Alta. Perched upon a raised bluff, one has to climb the well marked path up to a warm and inviting dining room. The menu makes use of typically Uruguayan ingredients in sometimes surprising ways. Empanadas of nandu--delicious...corvina cooked in banana leaves accompanied by fried plantain and basmati rice with coconut milk--delicious....in fact our party tried almost everything on the menu and there was only one less than enthusiastic response. Even the desserts were delectable! From the delicious bread and spreads to the final bite everything was perfect. I just hope this gem gets enough traffic to make it!!
