We booked a table of two adults and 1 child at 18:00 on Wednesday 9th August 2017. We turned up a little before our reservation time and it wasn't a problem the lovely lady who was sorting table allocations showed us to our seats we was on table 5 the pub is light and bright a very clean. It is clear the manger takes pride in his pub. Within 5mins a wonderful polite server arrived (didn't get her name she has tattoos down her one arm) she took our drinks order. She arrived back in no time with them and we then order our dinner 1 Chicken stack 1 Scampi and 1 Childrens Cheeseburger. The meals arrived and you could tell they was hand made and they was absolutely delicious. We ordered desert and OMG the homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding was the best I have ever tasted. ( I have eaten at many places and ordered sticky toffee pudding) it's was so wonderfully cooked and was moist and amazing. The service we received was second to none. The server acknowledged when our soon spoke and praised him for his manners etc which means a lot to us. Would highly recommend if your near the sawmills that you pop in for a bite to eat. Always remember to pre book as we are glad that we did as it was busy and totally full booked and yet the service was the best and most polite we have had in a long time. Thank You all at the sawmills but particularly our server.

The Sawmills Berrynarbor is a welcome addition to the Iocal dining options.
The owners of Croyde's Thatch
have invested nicely here and transformed this venue into a smart destination as good as any on either Devon coast.
Prawns pil pil is a dish that should transport you to the busy beach cafes of the Costa's and the Algarve, where plump white prawns have been tenderly grilled in butter and garlic and fresh chillies arrive sizzling on a skillet..
Be disappointed here then at £5.95 for 5 prawns served in a tiny dish without any heat or garlic in evidence.
A slice of toast or ciabatta perhaps?
Anyway they took my comments on board and fair play offered me another starter.
Baby back ribs are often tricky but here 8 ribs are served in a delicious tangy home made sauce... are they barbecued? definitely, and tender, so much so that you could eat them with a knife and fork
The ribs test then passed with flying colours.
Main courses ?
Chilli with rice toasted garlic bread and salad excellent,
a high bean count but still tasty and a generous portion £10.95
Ditto Nachos with beef again a huge portion with lots of cheese fresh peppers salsa and sour cream £11.95
A good selection of ales including Mena Dhu at an eye watering £4.65 and Tribute from St Austell and occasional local breweries.
We ordered 2 gin and tonics...£15.60 for singles.
Not a cheap option for larger families but a popular and friendly place in a picturesque location with plenty of heated outdoor dining space as well as comfortable dining indoors.
Great staff and service and a willing attitude to please. Well done.
Just need to zing up the prawns and serve them with something to dip with.......and dip into!

We had an excellent meal there and a few pints of our favourite tribute beer. Good friendly service and a good English pub food menu at reasonable prices. I had a slow cooked beef dish and would go back for this again. We had no problem getting a table but understand it can get busy so best to book ahead.

We have just returned from a week in Devon and chose to eat here one evening. The restaurant looks very nice from outside and is inside too. A large selection of drinks on offer including a wide variety of local ales and ciders (unfortunately I was driving!) We had a slight mess-uo with our booking as it couldn't be found but despite this and it being busy a table was found for us immediately and we had a complimentary round of drinks (thank you!)
The food was really nice. We all enjoyed what we ordered. I had the slow cooked beef brisket which was full of flavour!
All the staff were very friendly and had time for a quick natter.
All in all a very nice evening and meal.
