We stayed at The Bush House with friends as three couples. The house was large, comfortable, clean and safe. It has nice African decorative touches and was well equipped. The outdoor areas provided a good variety of areas for drinks and meals and a BBQ/braai that we used regularly. The wildlife experience was INCREDIBLE - we had a giraffe wandering though the garden one morning, wart hogs in the garden, zebra that came right up to the house, and we could hear lions roaring at night (safely on the other side of the Kruger game park fence!). A five minute walk to the nearest part of the game fence, which is set up above a river, allowed lovely evening "sundowners" where we brought along our camping chairs and cooler and enjoyed snacks and beers as the sun went down and the animals appeared along the river. We regularly saw families of elephants at this time of day. Impala and other antelopes could also be spotted driving through Marloth Park to and from the house. The location was ideal as the shops and petrol station were within a short drive (a few minutes) and easy to get to and from the airport. The entrance to Kruger Park was easily reached and we were able to get their early to beat the morning queues. The owners were able to recommend excellent safari guides. We will be back!
We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and 3 kids (5 to 12 yrs) and it was simply wonderful. The house held us all comfortably, with everything we needed and the most amazing location. Everything the owner says about animals roaming around is true - our kids met kudu at the garden edge. Lovely walks too - if you are prepared to meet some wildlife - down to the fence to see Kruger Park up close at sunset. But best of all is the cacophony of wonderful sounds and vision of amazing stars when darkness descends! And then in the early morning we were collected from the house for an incredible morning safari. Amazing place - highly recommend it.
There is only one word to describe this place AMAZING......being in such close contact with the wild is beyond any nature lovers dream......I literally had buck eating out of my hand.

We spent the Christmas period at Alegria ( 5 days ) . It is a really relaxing and comfortable bush house in quiet surroundings . We were 5 adults and one 12 year old girl . The house is spacious and well furnished with nice touches of local decorations . The perimeter fence for Kruger is about 300 yards away and is ideal for "sundowners" whilst watching herds of elephants having their evening dip in the Crocodile River . We also saw some lions almost get a kill on a small Dik Dik - amazing !
Every day we saw several animals wandering through the garden - warthog families , kudu , zebra , giraffe, all unthreatening as long as you treated them with respect . In the evening we sat outside around a blazing fire in the BOMA which I think means British Officers Messing Area . The sight of the southern heavens never failed to take our breath away - so many stars and planets visible . At the same time the sound backdrop was the odd roar of a lion in the Kruger , thankfully behind the perimeter fence !
In conclusion, if you want to visit Kruger then Alegria is the ideal base to do this - it is highly recommended . Our experience there was fantastic .
We have stayed here often. The sundowners with elephants and close encounters with Zebra, giraffe and antelope make this a very worthwhile stay.
