Description: 'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Our aim was from the very start, to show and promote the local products along with the local cuisine hoping that this will enable us to transmit to our guests a taste of the island's culture. The success that we have had all those years not only within Greece but also worldwide, has encouraged us to continue with cooking lessons, catering for weddings and conferences and various gastronomical events. Since 2010 'Selene' restaurant has moved location from Fira to Pyrgos. Pyrgos is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views. What is mostly important for us however is that Pyrgos village, and the restaurant's location especially, lies next to the famous vineyards and the valuable farmland of Santorini.

This was a great evening. We went to Selene for a late dinner and were welcomed by a super friendly staff that was really interested in the food they served. They really seemed to care about the cuisine and wanted to share that with us.

We ordered a really nice selection of meze to share and ended up spending hours talking, eating, and drinking. It's not a cheap restaurant, but it is a good one.

We have planned a dinning experience in this Restaurant because it was rated as one of the best in Pyrgos. We were standing at the main door of the main resto ( mind you they have another one downstairs) but the waiter and waitress didnt even bother to open the door. Hello, its that first step in welcoming your guests! So we left and decided to dine in a little Bistro downstairs. The place was not fabulous as we expected but the server was very accommodating. She knows her Wine! The food was good and the wine too. There was a cooking lesson going on so it was not a fine dining experience.

Last minute booking - originally we had planned to try the Meze but this part was closed for a private function so we ate in fine dining instead. The meal was delicious, driving meant we were restricted to just the one glass of wine each, but they were happy to open recommend wines that complimented our individual menu choices and open a bottle for just a glass each. The food and the wine choices were both superb. We would certainly recommend to fellow travellers.

Food was nice but over priced in my opinion and the venue is not as special as the many restaurants on the cliff face over looking the caldera. We had the T1 option which included an hour and a half talk about vegetables, whilst mildly interesting they lost me after 15-20 minutes and you weren't even offered a drink apart from water. Also it got a bit cold outside and we had to move tables and sit in.
