My daughter bought me a two night break for two at this hotel. We weren’t expecting much but chose it for its close proximity to Chester. Park & ride to city close by.
We were pleasantly surprised by nice friendly staff & the freshness of food. The cleanliness was noted. My friend & I enjoyed a lovely breakfast both mornings & elected to have dinner in for final evening. Food was plentiful & delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would happily return. The only fly in the ointment is in its difficulty finding it as the part of Berwick Road it’s on is closed off. I suggest telephoning hotel ahead to get instructions. We never got to it by road the same way twice!!

My partner and I stayed here Easter weekend on the two day all-inclusive package. The hotel is a good standard and is undergoing renovations,however we were a bit disappointed at the standard of the shower cubicles in the changing rooms. The grouting was in a terrible condition and could do with a spray of HG Mould Away. The meals and breakfast was lovely served in the lovely restaurant and the standard of drinks offered on the all-inclusive package was very good served in the lovely bar area..The thing that stood out for both of us was how friendly and helpful all the staff were. One member of staff shone and stood out the most and that was young Sam who served our meals in the restaurant. He was faced with a packed restaurant because of a large group staying and yet he kept his cool. He is a real asset to the hotel. We are looking forward to staying again in the near future.

The staff here are lovely and try their hardest, but this hotel is in despite need of an overhaul!

To start with the door locking system is failing, it took us 4 trips back and forth to the reception desk to get keys that would open our door. In the end the front desk staff came the room and opened with a master key. We saw several other guests struggling to open doors.

We pre-paid for breakfast, but when we got there we were told we would have to wait 15 minutes as they had run out of food. Surprising as breakfast was still open for another hour! We sat waiting watching water pouring through the ceiling of the restaurant, with staff trying to find buckets to catch it. Looking at the state of the ceiling this was at issue every time it rains. When they finally got more food out there was just an small portion of each item which lasted less than a minute with the number of waiting guests.

Finally, when checking out of our room we almost got stuck in the lift as the door malfunctioned. We ended up carrying all of our bags down the stairs for safety.

Staff refunded cost of breakfast and room, but Mercure should be ashamed of allowing a hotel to get into this state.

Smashing stay here food great staff nice and welcoming
Had the all inclusive 2 day break and didn’t get around to having the lunch as too stuffed from breakfast which was served until quite late.
Dinner was 2 courses either starter main or main and dessert of which there were good choices for meat eaters but not so good for me a veggie although the staff were very accommodating in offering others not on menu.
Portion sizes were large.
Beer good could have done with a couple of local ales on the deal.
Beds comfy
Very clean room
Spotless bathroom
Had to fiddle with the shower but eventually got it right.
Would recommend this place highly and intend to return

We went of a family weekend away and stayed at mercure. The hotel and staff were lovely. Very clear and tidy. Our room was massive so there was plently of room as we have a 5 month old so needed a travel cot. The swimming pool was lovely and warm. The receptionist Tracey Owens was very helpful and friendly!! The breakfast was also very nice and worth the money. I would defienetly come back and stay at the hotel again
