So saying new staff I'd always a big of a red flag, but in this case it was not a negative. The staff worked really hard to help us out.

The pub also got busy after we arrived which was good. The food was a bit mixed, the main issue actually being too large portions. That may sound odd but when a starter is so large that you are put off your main it's not a positive.

I liked the pub, liked the staff, the food was ok and the 4 rating is a reflection of the effort to put things right.

Thank Drakesy

First time visit to this pub.
We took my husband's father out for Sunday lunch last weekend 17th Sept to celebrate his 92nd birthday.
I asked for a quiet table because he is deaf and his hearing aids pick up background noise.
We were given an ideal table and immediately made to feel welcome.
We were served very quickly by very polite girls. My husband and father in-law both had garlic mushrooms as a starter, and my father in law commented that it was a meal in itself!
We all had roast pork with crackling, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and seasonal vegetables...none of the boring boiled vegetables that is the norm in most places.
It was all delicious, in fact one of the best roast meals we've ever had in a pub.
The owner came and enquired if it was all okay, we told her it was lovely and we were celebrating Father in law's birthday. When we ordered the pudding, she said it was on the house....how generous of her!
We were very impressed with the whole experience, and will definitely return.

They specialise in seafood and we had a variety of seafood starters which were very good, I had crab. We all had Sunday roast, roast beef and lamb which was perfectly cooked. The vegetables were excellent as well. A good selection of beers, all in all one couldn't ask much more for a Sunday lunch in a country pub. Lots of parking in front and behind the building. On a Sunday they serve throughout the afternoon which some pubs in the area tend not to on a Sunday. We went in about 15:00 and there were plenty of tables.

I have visited this Pub now on a few occasions, since the Management has changed.
I was totally satisfied with the service received, and good to see from a country pub.

It was ok, steak sandwich was good and the kids egg and bacon sandwich was ok too. What was disappointing that the table was sticky and when the food was served on boards they didn't fit on the table, the waitress left my daughters half on mine and half on the table...

Have been previously end enjoyed a lovely steak.... but this time we felt there were a few details not quite up to scratch.

Hi Tamsin,

Thank you for your review and apologies that everything wasn't as expected.

I am actively seeking an alternative to the boards but it does also sound like common sense didn't prevail in your case - something which we will address.

With regards to the table - having just checked others I suspect the new 'food safe' spray cleaner we've started using is leaving a residue - thank you for pointing it out to us.
