Description: This pub has recently undergone extensive renovation and redecoration, transforming it into one of Bath's most popular venues at which to eat, drink and stay. Having received Michelin and AA recognition, quality and consistency is the focus in the kitchen, where every ingredient is sourced through exhaustive research of our local suppliers by executive chef Chris Alderson. Our wine list is carefully chosen and we regularly feature guest ales and beers. We have recently expanded our accommodation facilities by adding five new beautiful rooms, including four new standard king size rooms and one superior family/twin room.

I remember the Northey as a slightly run down unloved old pub but in recent years the transformation has been amazing. It now has a lovely inviting atmosphere, the menu is more than tempting and the food excellent.

Service was lovely, especially Alex who was very attentive and sorted problems professionally and efficiently.
The food was very hit and miss, the pork belly starter was over cooked and chewy but the salt cod was nicely done.
With mains the Hake was great but the chicken was overdone and steak massively underdone (although corrected by the kitchen and staff well) but came with a peppercorn sauce made with black peppercorns-not so great... Expensive for what it was and quite tired old fashioned decor. Needs a bit of an upgrade as had a lot of potential.

Friends visited us and wanted to take my partner out for a belated birthday lunch.
Chose The Northey Arms as previously had enjoyed some nice meals here.
All four of us said the food was as good as it gets. I had a starter of slow cooked belly pork with a black pubbing and quail egg scotch egg. Totally delicious. For main I had the pan fried calves liver served on a bed of mashed potato, wilted spinach and bacon. Am amazing dish perfectly executed.
Definitely highly recommended. I've attached photos of two other starters. Scallops and deep fried scampi.

Waiter took out orders, when mine arrived the sweet potato wedges were soggy as if they hadn’t been cooked. Part of my order was forgotten. The quiche was ok but rock hard on the bottom. They were slow to take orders, as there was only two other tables in there eating. The waiter agreed the sweet potatoes were mushy not crisp, no offer to take them off the bill. Hence the review. They need someone in charge who knows what they are doing.

First time here and probably the last. On arrival at lunch time we were greeted by friendly staff. Ordered from the lunch menu. Ciabatta & chips and a chicken and bacon Caesar salad. We waited quite a long time considering it wasn’t very busy, when the food came out the salad was missing the bacon that was displayed on the menu and was also full of anchovies. If the menu had stated anchovies it wouldn’t have been an issue but to not expect them in there was a bit of a surprise so beware if you are allergic or do not like fish do NOT order the Caesar salad. The rest of the food was ok, the service was not great and wasn’t even asked if our meals were ok, when mentioning no bacon they did apologise and offer to cook some but it seemed pointless considering it was only a small portion. Northey arms you were not what i expected after driving past for so many years.
