Stayed here recently whilst doing some walking in Snowdonia. The hotel was absolutely perfect, staff were polite and friendly and the whole hotel felt very homely.

The food was incredible, the breakfast even better and the room was absolutely perfect for what we needed.

Beau the cat was also a lovely touch, perfect for a cuddle in front of the fire after a long day walking!

The best hotel stay I’ve had in a long time!

Can’t wait to return, thank you for your hospitality!

The lovely small hotel is right in the middle of town and has got real character as you would expect from a tavern and inn that has been hosting guests for centuries.
My room was at the top of the house and was very well equipped with a large sleigh bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a big plasma TV on a very clever swivel bracket.
The room also had a very authentic oak beam over the back of the bed adding to the old world feel and a good sized and well equipped bathroom.
The food on the bar menu was tasty and had plenty of choice, I had the pate starter and the scampi main course and can recommend both.
The full Welsh breakfast was delicious and the staff were happy to provide many alternatives cooked or cereals and such were available for self service.
The hotel cat is friendly and will go away if you don't offer it scraps.
All the staff are very pleasant and friendly and the hotel is steeped in history.

Room Tip: In town centre, best views at front of house

Stayed here on a Thursday and Friday night. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Catered for my request for skimmed milk without an issue. Even or dog was welcomed. Stayed in Twm or Nant, which was a room on the top floor. Only negative I could say is that because of the shape of the roof and location of the bed I couldnt sit up in bed with my morning cup of tea!! Otherwise a lively stay..thanks everyone.

I recently visited the hotel with my partner and our little chihuahua using a 'buy a gift' two night stay voucher. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and smiley and we felt very welcomed including our little dog. The only issue with our arrival was that we were informed there was no guest parking and we would have to use the public pay and display carpark located around the corner. (not too much of a problem at all!) Our room was equipt with everything needed, including a flat screen tv, dressing table and mirror area, a double bed, ensuit with both bath and shower, as well as complimentary teas and coffees. As we arrived in the evening, we didnt attend the evening meal service but decided to go down to the bar for a couple of drinks later on. We were greeted by a very friendly young man serving on the bar who was very polite and accommodating and chatted to us quite a bit. My only concern was the other customers drinking in the bar acting quite strange and being a bit intimidating towards us (again nothing to do with the staff or the site!). the area is nice with lovely views of the hills, the town right on the doorstep of the hotel, and plenty of nice walks for the dog. we had breakfast which was very satisfactory and had everything you could want available. Our second night in the bar we were greeted by a lovely lady who again was very friendly and accomadating, even bringing over fresh water and a biscuit for our dog which was lovely. However again, we were made to feel quite uncomfortable by another customer in the bar which was a bit upsetting. Over all the the hotel is a lovely historical building with lots of character and the staff couldn't of being friendlier, and the fact the hotel is dog friendly is a plus, as we wouldn't of been able to go away if not.
