Not sure what some reviewers are expecting, this is a traditional old country pub, basically a few seats, a fire and a serving hatch. Beer is from the barrel into a jug. It is not palatial (although it is frequented by royals), it is not a gastro pub (I did see peanuts) and it is not spotless (I also spotted a dead fly....perhaps I'll die).
Go there while it is still like it is....splendid.

We popped in late afternoon on a Friday. There were two others in the pub, a roaring fire in the stove and a couple of Labradors steaming dry in front of it. The Bass was good and our daughter enjoyed a packet of peanuts while patting the dogs. Worth visiting if only because of its utter uniqueness.
