The room war with fabulous view to the lake and the color in the nature at this time is amazing. The hot tube outside is so nice, sit there at the evening and watch the stars is like adventure. The spa is also very nice and relaxing.

Stayed 5 Sept., prearranged tour. Situated along Road 931, about 24 kilometres from Egilsstaoir. This is a really lovely area, has many attractions, and is very popular with visitors. There’s lots to see, including forests (Icelands largest), rivers, Lake Lagarfljot, and waterfalls. Nearby to the hotel is a small forest of old Larch trees planted in the 1930’s, and at Guttormslunder there is an Arboretum of
mature trees from many cold climate areas of the world. There are some pleasant short hiking trails within this forest.
This hotel is quite modern by standard, and offers very comfortable, spacious rooms with private facilities. Spa, hot tub & sauna also available. Breakfast in separate area, good selection. Evening dinner available at 2 restaurants within complex, chose Indian cuisine from menu, -VG meal. Very efficient, pleasant wait staff. Was told that due to Winter related conditions, they close for an extended seasonal period. Overall, really enjoyable stay here.

This hotel is in a beautiful forest on the edge of a dramatic lake with superb walking and hiking trails immediately available. It is charming and well designed with clean and pleasant rooms, all of which appear to have a good view of some part of its surroundings. It reminded me of the lodges in American National Parks because of its charming style and perfect setting.

Room tip: All rooms have views but a view toward the lake is the best.

COMMENTS
With stunning views of the lake, this hotel is sure to inspire calm and relaxation. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and ample storage. The bathroom, albeit a little short on counter space, is modern and offers and rain style shower.
The remote location makes the restaurant offerings quite pricey. We didn't realize the dinner buffet was nearly $100 CAD pp until after we received the bill. There's no denying the food was delicious, but this was steep. Budget travellers would do best to dine nearby in Egilsstaðir.

The hotel is good and in a great, quiet location. But the stars of the hotel are the staff - from the super helpful receptionist who found us a nice twin room even though we had booked a double and changed our minds on arrival, to the very informative waitress in the Indian restaurant, to the great Indian chef - everyone impressed with their professional and friendly assistance. I would certainly stay again. Well done to the staff.
