We stayed with friends at this lovely cottage for the second time in June 2016 and were as delighted the second time as our first visit. Galini is a secluded house set on the hillside with glorious views out to sea and benefits from breezes during the day. The cottage is well equipped with lovely decor - light and airy. The kitchen was well stocked and lots of books to borrow. The paintings throughout the cottage are lovely and gives it a homely feel.
Outside there are both shaded and unshaded seating areas to enjoy meals, drinks and general socialising as well as a wonderful swimming pool set away from the house which allows a bit of privacy.
We occupied a delightful double room with ensuite underneath the pool which is slightly separated from the main house. Access was via external steep steps but were easily accessible. The room would have benefitted from air conditioning but there were patio doors onto a small seating area which we left open.
As with most traditional Greek houses, the plumbing requires that paper is not flushed away but bins were provided in each bathroom - initially a bit of a shock but no problem at all.
The property is not overlooked and has wonderful views out to sea.
We will be back again as this a peaceful and delightful location to relax with family and/or friends.
Grab an open top Jimny jeep at the airport, call into the neighbouring suprmarket for your essentials and Greek wine and enjoy the 45 minute drive along the coast seeing some of the best views on your way to Galini.
On arriving the house looks modest in size but once you enter the house stretches back to the stunning views with multiple verandas, sofa areas under shady carob trees, perfect for breakfast and lunch.
Walking under ancient twisting olive trees the pool perched to the edge of the hillside is perfect and with enough room for small or large groups to swim and relax in the sun. The view from the pool is amazing especially in the evening when the sun sets.
The house accommodation has four bedrooms sleeping 8 people, a large open plan sitting/dining room and new kitchen with a huge round table so plenty of room to dine.
There is a gorgeous secret and very romantic separate double bedroom suite set into the hillside accessible from a door by the poolside.
Close by is the village of Volimes with stunning hand made pottery, Freshly baked bread and traditional sheeps cheese made daily is not to be missed.
For some lively dancing, drinks and sailing head down to Peligoni Salining Club just a few minutes drive away. Always a lively, fun and very friendly night out.
Eating out there is plenty of choice just a few minutes away by the sea.
The perfect Greek getaway for a long weekend or longer holiday, you really won't be disappointed. Nothing to dislike and everything to love.
