Le Mousseau
Reviewed 21 August 2013

We stayed here for two nights in August and it really was a paradise of luxury and relaxation. There were four of us, 2 adults and our teenage children. The pool area is just beautiful with plenty of sunbeds and tables and chairs for everyone and luxury pool towels. The pool bar is also lovely and you are offered drinks by the charming hosts. The lake is lovely to explore, with a little boat that can be rowed. There is a games room in the courtyard with table tennis, a gym and bikes you can use. There is also a putting hole for golfers. There are large skittles and croquet also by the pool.

The ambiance of the place is wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Gardiner cottage which was perfect for two nights (although a proper shower would have been a bonus with four people trying to wash), but the little kitchen was a delight. The lady of the house also showed me the other gites, which all had proper fitted kitchens and full bathrooms and all looked amazing - every attention to detail, she has wonderful taste. Lovely fluffy towels, bathrobes and toiletries and lovely bedding. Our teenage children really enjoyed our time here. There was plenty for them to do for a short break, although they also enjoyed lazing by and swimming in the pool. We were going to visit places while there but didn't leave the site, as it was so beautiful.

There is a bread/cake shop and mini grocery shop (Simpla) in the village a mile away and larger supermarket 15 mins away. Good restaurants are within 10 to 15 minutes drive away and the owners are happy to make suggestions and reservations. The location for peace and tranquillity is very good but you cannot walk to any restaurants/bars, although they are not far away.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we didn't want to leave, and WE WILL BE BACK!!

Room Tip: All rooms are decorated to a high standard and all are very quiet. There is no air conditioning bec...

Can only agree with the other reviews. Excellent experience and great location to explore the Loire Castle. We came with our bikes, mades two nice biking tours (very easy and relative flat) and stayed two nights. We had a beautifull room, swimming pool is marvelous and drinking the regional white wine at the pool made our stay a great short stay. Be aware that most restaurants are closed in the area on a monday.

Room Tip: All rooms in the main building are nice

We just fell in love with this very special place. We had an outstanding experience that we recommend to all travelers. It started as we entered the woods all carpeted with mint green moss looking like a setting for the fairytales. We discovered a place of calm, beauty and elegance, surrounded by unspoiled nature and a private lake. The mansion is beautifully decorated with antics and hunting pieces. The welcome was really warm and we felt like at home. Our hosts took pride in ensuring that everything was perfect, down to the slightest detail. The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean, full of charm and character and looked fabulous!
We stayed a couple of days but we would have happily stayed a bit longer, enjoying marvellous opportunities to relax, play games and visit the area. Just 1h30 from Paris, it’s a great location to visit some of the best-known castles of the Loire Valley, Chambord is only a 30 min drive. This time was a romantic winter getaway but next year we’ll definitely come back with a couple of nature-lover friends!

Room Tip: We stayed in the mansion which was gorgeous. The other accomodations looked great too, like the gard...
