We tried this company as our second canoeing trip on the Dordogne, the first being two years ago. It is easy to get confused by all the different companies doing canoe trips in the area. We liked this one because they had a midday trip from Carsac to Beynac. You arrive and park in the shady carpark and then go and pay for your trip and get the equipment. There were four of us and because it is a long canoe 22km we hired two of the barrels to take our stuff in, including our picnic lunch and copious amounts of water as it was 34 degrees.
The booking and equipment was fine. The bus journey to Carsac was a little disorganised, we were told to wait and some one would call us. The family next to us were told to get on a bus that arrived, we were left waiting. I went and asked the female driver in one of the buses and she looked surprised and then realised a mistake had been made and our canoes etc should have been loaded on this bus. It was quickly sorted out but i did wonder what would have happened had we not gone and spoken to the driver. We also ended up being split up as a family. There is quite a presumption that you know what the form is. It is mostly students on summer jobs who staff the site with a couple of french staff who know what is going on. English is spoken should you need.
Anyhow, the rest of the day went off smoothly and was great fun. We came back here because it is such a great location for a family canoe. No difficulty involved, beautiful scenery, lots of great places to stop and eat a picnic.
On reflection we should have done Vitrac to Beynac as it was a bit too long, our teenagers were seriosuly flagging by the last hour or so and it was very hot sun. We ended up towing the cayaks they were in! Bus back not a problem. All in all a great day.

We stayed in Sarlat and drove to Vitrac to start our canoe adventure. The site was very easy to find. We checked in, got our canoe and were on our way.
The river is very calm and the we paddled leisurely enjoying the scenery. There were many opportunities to pull over and swim or stop in s town to site see, have s drink, etc.
Once we reached Beynac, we signed up for a time to catch the bus to back to Vitrac then went and explored Beynac.
We had a fantastic time and I would recommend an afternoon canoe trip to anyone visiting the Dordogne area.

The minibus came to pick us up from the campsite we were staying at in Beynac, which was ideal.
We decided to kayak for 22km, and were so glad we did. There was so much to see, and it wasn't such hard work as the river did some of the work. It's really easy to land at a secluded spot and have a picnic. For a small fee of 2 euros you can hire a tub to put your belongings in, including lunch! We also stopped for a beer at Castlenaud!
We really, really enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of the river and would definitely recommend doing this.

Great gear - our canoe came with seat backs and our child's oar was the perfect length. Very friendly and prompt service. They are tucked away just across the road from the Canoës-Loisirs outfit that is visible from the Vitrac bridge.

We went from Vitrac to Beynac which was maybe 30 min longer than we needed, but still beautiful with many beaches to pull over and swim. FYI that French law requires children to be at least 5 years old to canoe down the Dordogne.

We paid 5 euros to park in Beynac, and arranged for a 3-person canoe. We arrived about 9:30 am and caught the 10 a.m. bus. We were on the river about 10:40 am and finished at 3:30. We stopped in La Roque to sightsee and eat a picnic lunch. We also got out briefly on the rocky beach in Castelnaud to take a dip and cool off. It is not hard paddling but the current is slow in places. Amazing views! It was easy at the end -- they helped pull up the canoe and we were back to our car and on our way.
