Getting tired of driving we consulted our Garmin for lodging. It came up with two interesting sounding names, Park Hotel and Randsberger Hof. We went to the Park Hotel first, hoping for some vegetation around. But no success. It should rather be called Industrial Park Hotel. Nobody at the reception.
Onward to Randsberger Hof. Admittedly, at first this place doesn't look quite charming or historical, rather functional. But inside: what an amazing surprise. The most helpful staff, they turned over backwards to accommodate us, at any time of the day. The rooms fine, but most functional and quite cheap. Excellent Bavarian food. And then: a fitness centre, a wellness area, and to top it all a 32 degree Celsius roof top swimming pool, overlooking the centre of the city with its massive old church spire. What a way to start the day.
