Helpful friendly service and tasty food. It was an interesting experience to share some dishes on the injera (traditional bread). We particularly liked the slow cooked chicken dish. Food is eaten from a large shared plate and eaten with your hands, although utensils are available if required.

As parents of an active toddler we don’t tend to eat out in restaurants often. However, we went to Saba twice in three weeks! Not only the food is amazing (approved by a picky 17 months old and an Ethiopian friend we went with) but Saba was really lovely with our daughter. She even looked after her for a little while so we, her parents, could eat some dinner together! Would give 6 stars, highly recommended!!

Went here for Christmas dinner with my fiancee, we are both vegetarians. Nice people and good food, reasonably priced as well.

This restaurant was a great find! My wife and I spent a week in Melbourne, and this was one of our very favourite eateries.

Earlier in 2017 I spent two weeks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and ate a lot of Ethiopian cuisine. The food at Saba was the real deal, and even better than what I ate in Ethiopia!

We had the three-meat and three-veg (chef's choice) dishes to share. It came served on a large piece of injera bread, with extra rolls on the side to mop up the food. For those who don't know, injera is a traditional sourdough Ethiopian flatbread that is used to eat curry-style dishes by hand. Ethiopian dishes are very distinctive as it is the only African country never to be colonised, and so it has a very well preserved identity and culture.

For the meat and veg dishes, extra injera bread, Ethiopian ginger tea and then honey wines for afters, we paid 66 Australian dollars. Worth every penny!

Totally authentic family Ethiopian food. A most beautiful experience. A real experience. Just loved it. And truly lovely people. We will be back. Thank you! Plus there's more. Ethiopian beers. A small carefully curated wine and cider list. And.... Ethiopian Ouzo tea, made with amazing spices. An incredible experience all up.
