Everyone visiting Estonia should try and get to see some of the country outside Tallin. The Lepanina, set in extensive grounds and overlooking the Baltic Sea offers people willing to travel to the more remote parts of the country an opportunity to do so.
We opted for one of the more expensive rooms, with it's own Spa Bath. The price was very good compared to UK norms. The room was spotless and pleasantly decorated and the bathroom was spacious. The Spa Bath had room for two.
The view was excellent with the sea framed by pine trees and being on the west coast it is ideally placed for stunning sunsets.
The building itself is modern and not especially attractive but it is only two stories high and hidden from view by the trees.
We had an evening meal in the restuarant. The food was good and the menu interesting (we had lampreys on toast as one of our starters) and although rather more expensive than most of rural Estonia, again prices were low compared to the UK.
The Lepanina is definitely a place we'd choose again if in the area.
