To celebrate our first wedding anniversary, my husband & I booked an executive room with estuary view and it certainly didn't disappoint. The staff were fantastic and made us feel special. We made use of the spa facilities and had an express facial which was pleasant. The spa area is small, just something to be aware of. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and could not fault the food. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and encourage you to book a room with a view!

Comfortable stay with a gratis upgrade to a suite so very happy with value for money, and we were given a room with a view of the estuary so that added to our enjoyment. Well appointed bedroom and very nice bathroom, with a living area too.

The staff were great and very helpful. Food was good. My one gripe is a pet hate of mine - a mini bar that is not stocked! What IS the point? This was, however, negated by the prompt delivery of drinks via room service. We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the estuary...

What a lovely hotel. Arrived with our 2 year old daughter. Check in was easy despite a wedding party having just arrived and enjoying drinks in the reception area. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble
Our room was very nice. Plenty of room to accommodate a travel cot. Very clean and in good condition.
We used the swimming pool which was spotless. The changing rooms also were very clean. The pool was lovely and most enjoyable.
We had dinner in the bar with our daughter. Both the main menu and the children’s menu were good and the food was delicious. Breakfast the following morning in the restaurant was also great. Despite the wedding party staying over and the restaurant being very busy nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very attentive.
All in all a wonderful hotel in a great location with great staff and facilities. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.

My parents in law were visiting us and were staying at thee hotel so, booked us into the hotel for the one night (they were staying two) so as we could have dinner and not worry about the drive home. The hotel itself is ok - and check in was pretty painless. the room was starting to show its age a little (we'd not stopped overnight for several years) with wallpaper starting to peel away at the ceiling and frayed carpets etc. but, the room was clean and it was only 1 night and we weren't buying the place just sleeping there.
However, the restaurant is a complete and utter disaster....!
The hotel had at least one coach trip staying over (no problem with that) however, when we re ready for our table (booked for 7.30) we were told it wasn't ready - ten minutes later it was - its was a different sort of table to the rest of the restaurant, we were missing all the things that make dining in a 4 star hotel what its meant to be, ours was the only table with no flowers of lighting on the table, no cruet and the chairs were as those for a wedding (with covers) unlike the rest of the restaurant which were very much in keeping with the surroundings.
By now we were getting the distinct impression that we'd been forgotten about and that the coach trip came first so our table was cobbled together in a rush.
We were approached by the waiter (who acted like a petulant teenager you'd asked to take the bins out) and asked what we wanted and did we want to order it all at once (all three courses).
My mother in law asked if she could substitute something on the menu but was told NO!. No explanation as to why but what was on the plate was what was on the plate no exceptions (do they come ready prepared?).

The starters arrived and were comical - Small dabs of this and that on what can only be described as re-entry shields - the largest glass charger plates you could ever imagine and it went on and on from there.
By the end of thee meal this was becoming comical and would have made our night would it not have been for the cost.
Its understandable that hotels want to be the best they can but the quay hotel and spa falls very much short of being the best at anything.
If you're going to create tiny bits of food with dibs and dabs of sauces make sure its good quality - this was not - STOP trying to be something you're not - a fine dining experience.
As for the staff - who is training these people?
Each one looked and acted like they couldn't get from the place fast enough, every single request was too much trouble and most were like spoiled teenagers who were being punished by being made to work.
All in all a sad, and non excusable set of circumstances that has resulted in this local couple being assured that they won't be visiting again any time soon.

If you're planning on visiting the area - look around and see what else is available I'm sure you can do a lot better - for the cost we would have had a better stay at one of thee many national chain hotels for aa fraction of the price and with much better food.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else
