I wanted to leave "very good" but changed my mind after staying in another Castle hotel in Dublin.
To start, this place gets the award for curb appeal. Even at night this place is fit for the queen. Inside, it is a bit outdated and my first impression was "very good". We stayed at the Clontarf Castle in Dublin which is totally modern and that changed my opinion to "Excellent". At the Clontarf you easly forget your in a castle. The older fixture and furniture reminds you at the Dalhousie your in a Castle. Also - We went to the Windsor Castle in England and toured the staterooms and it looked identical to the carpet, walls and structure of the Dalhousie which also upgraded my opinion.
This place could use a few million dollar make over but you would loose the castle feel plus you would spend more per night. This was one of our cheapest places to stay which is why I would return. We missed breakfast every morning because we were in a hurry but did grab some nice juice and croissant. Staff was great. Tap water was good. Even had a heated bath towel rack. Nice touchs!!
One thing I also liked was the rooms had all kind of extras, like Scotish bisquits waiting on us, a fan and other nice touch items.More
