Det lille Hotel is without doubt our best hotel experience this year. Brilliant service from A to Z. We received a sweet studio apartment that had everything we needed and more. Definitely the place to stay in Risør. We will be back!

I've stayed here about 6 times and it's always been great. There is no hotel nearby to beat it. Lovely, unique rooms, cosy and well designed. Great service, it doesn't feel like a hotel, much more personal than that. Great service in a beautiful small town, can't recommend it enough. And I would also recommend the local restaurant "Promenaden".

Room Tip: They're all pretty good.

What a delightful surprise! Det Lille Hotel has suites/apartments around the small harbor town, easily reachable by car/foot or the hotel's free bikes. We stayed in a refurbished loft filled with sea life antiques (The Matros suit). The bed was mattresses on the floor, but in a nice, good and charming way. Kitchenette, TV, dining table. The house we stayed in had three more suites, different than ours - and nice as well (our friends stayed there - real beds for those worried about that). The house is on the Norwegian heritage list (a former retirement house for seamen).
Before the great breakfast at the reception house in the center of town we enjoyed a four minutes bike ride along the harbor. Great friendly and personal service from the fixed staff. The signature dish is Fishcakes. For breakfast we pressed our own juice, had eggs and bacon made to order and ate both in the cozy lounge and out on the sidewalk. Great location for small group conferences. Another couple we know stayed in a four room modern apartment over the reception. They were so happy with it, but we liked our romantic nest better :-)
We will be back - actually we will make a weekend trip from Oslo back here - just for Det Lille Hotel - not to visit Risør as such.

Hi and thanks for the super review! Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that you took the time to write about it!. Just to confirm the bed in Matros suite is a proper bed but low to the floor because of the sloping roof :-)

Welcome back soon!

We spent two nights in the Konvoi Suite. The suite is very large, with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, downstairs toilet and two bedrooms.

One bedroom has a double bed, the other twin beds. There is also a small rollaway bed downstairs, but we didn't try it. If someone is planning on using this bed, they better not mind a bit of light, as not all the windows have curtains that will block out light.

The suite is at the top of a very steep staircase, so I wouldn't recommend it, if you have problems with stairs. (The hotel also has this information on their website.)

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and there is parking by the reception. It's about a two minute walk from the reception to the suite. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. The kitchen was not as clean, e.g. the small tablecloth on the dining table had several pieces of shrimp on it and the counters were a bit sticky.

The suite has air conditioning downstairs. It's in a charming location and very true to what you expect to find in Risør. It also has a lovely large deck.

Hi, thank you for a great review, and thank you for the feedback about cleaning. We take the cleanliness of the suites very seriously so it is always disappointing to hear that it that it could have been better in the kitchen. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and wish you welcome back soon!

Small nice city with small house knitted nicely together.
This hotel has then joined some of this houses together as suites and small apartments. With a small lounge in the middle were we parked our motorcycles, and had our beers and told each other lies and stories of our abilities to drive these machines. We got better and better as the night went on...
Rooms are differently shaped but more or less very spacious and comfortable. Some have terraces.
Internet was free and good
Dinner served in the main building and one night we had a very good crab and shrimp night; very good! Next night with chicken, also very good.
Not overpriced neither on food or drinks; compared some other Norwegian fjord hotels.
Breakfast was good with good bread and pancakes with proper blueberries.
But; much too slow serving. When you have to make every fried egg and almost every glass of juice on order. And too little...
But everything tasted good and the weather was perfect.

Thanks for your visit and thank you for feedback! Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay.

Sorry that you felt it was too long to wait for egg and bacon at breakfast; the reason we take orders for this is that we feel it is much more pleasant for guests to get egg and bacon cooked just how they like it, instead of for example cold hard-boiled eggs or scrambled eggs that have been on the buffet a while. However for larger groups, especially those in a hurry, I agree it can seem slow. Following your feedback we have tried with larger groups to make a fresh load of scrambled eggs and bacon to everyone, and this was much quicker.

We have freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast, again because of the quality, it is a much better experience for guests than orange juice from a bottle. The juice press is on the buffet and guests are welcome to use it, we usually try to have a few glasses freshly pressed ready for guests just to take, but you are welcome to press your own. And it's unlimited, if the glass is too small, guests are welcome to press as many glasses as they like!
