This unassuming family run restaurant is on the main road in Sort. Joseph runs the dining room, and he does so with charm, warmth and wit. His wife is the chef, and since he was unsure how much Spanish we might be able to speak, he had arranged for his daughter Erika to work that evening, in case we needed help with the menu. That thoughtfulness and attention to detail sets the tone for the quality of the meal. We had the tasting menu (adjusted to suit our requirements) and every single plate was stunning. A small piece of toasted bread with onion, garlic and sausage and a vanilla oil was remarkable. The lamb, cooked at a low temperature for 24 hours, was the best we’ve ever tasted. The chicken dish was beautiful. All of it was wonderful, and complemented by Josep’s excellent wine suggestions. The meal was fabulous, the family makes your visit all the more special, and there is no doubt that we shall return.

Visited Sort with my lovely step daughter who lives in Barcelona. She'd heard that there was a Michelin Star restaurant and there it was. 50 metres from our hotel. The lunch was a set menu for €35. Maybe a bit more than you'd normally pay for lunch.the taster menu was €70. I thought it was ok. Anyway, the owner was a true professional. We had 3 hor d'ouvres type tastings before our starter, main course, dessert and coffee. The restaurant describes its food as 'slow food'. The flavours and quality of the food was excellent. Although the place was quiet to start it gradually got busier. Mine host took the time to explain in detail the origins of the dishes, the ingredients and the cooking process. He spoke a bit of English but thank fully Dania speaks Spanish. I'd recommend and return.

The philosophy behind Fogony is a great concept: using just local ingredients and making the best of them. There is only two menus to choose from: a simpler "KM Zero" menu (3 courses) and a longer and more refined longer degustation menu.
Since we were there for sunday lunch, we chose the shorter menu, which started with 3 amouse bouches that gave us high expectations for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, starter, main and dessert were... just ok. Everything was cooked very well, but nothing giving a hint that you're eating at a restaurant that has a Michelin star.
So my suggestion is to actually go for the longer menu; and it is a bit of a shame that they don't have anything in between the two options!

Restaurant is lovely inside, cool air conditioning, tables well spaced apart. Very warm welcome from the family's daughter, who speaks perfect English and answered our questions on the menu (which is translated into French & English too). We chose from the 35 euro 3 course menu, the tasting menu looked good, but at 9 courses plus amuse bouche, and not starting until 8.30pm it would have been a late night for us! As it was, we were given 3 amuse bouche before our starters, all great especially the foie mousse with PX reduction. Dad came out (who only speaks Spanish) and recommended an amazing bottle of white wine, seriously one of the best I've ever had, and only 18 euros! It was called 'Castell Del Remei Oda Blanc'. All the food was very good and generous portions too. Would have liked to choose from an a la carte menu, which they have recently stopped doing. Lovely service, attentive but not stuffy at all.
