This is a great place to visit. If you just sat down and people watched, you'd get great value for your money! The most interesting people walked past. There were quite a few dressed dogs in baby carriages too. And this is the place to hire a kimono and stroll around.
There are ample shops and restaurants and take away places. You are told not to walk and eat though as this is disrespectful.
The temple is lovely too and there is a little pond with fish in it and a baby waterfall close by.
Although it is extremely crowded it is nevertheless a fun place to visit.

Asakusa is wonderful. It’s of course a lot off tourists but heading away from the main streets you can find hidden little gems. There are nice restaurants around.

Near the part and temple, there is elder part of town which is now full of restaurants and people; worth visting, either in crowded market place or more silent streets/restaurants

My wife and I visited this place as part of a day tour of Tokyo. It was very crowded as it is a very popular tourist attraction.
