Owner description: This department store is one of the trendiest in Japan, and its flagship Shinjuku store houses the finest in clothing, accessories, and homeware. It is also known for its impressive variety of foods.

Typical of Japanese Department stores, this is a big, bold, colourful and well run operation. The basement food court is quite spectacular, with independent food retailers offering an extraordinary range of ‘take-home’ foods from standard fare... dumplings etc, to magnificent confections. However, there is nowhere to eat on site and much of the food comes hot and ready to be consumed. This we found surprising and a little disappointing.

Came during lunch rush on a Saturday during cherry blossom season, so I might have set myself up for a fail, but the food hall was crazy crowded, which seemed to push my kids into a meltdown. Food was ok, and we shopped a little but prices seemed exorbitant. Might be worth a peek but wouldn’t come again right at lunchtime.

Harrods. The deli/ food area is rather impressive. Great selection of rather fairly priced wines from around the world. Well heeled clientele ...fun place to visit.

If you’ve been a department store you’ll have few surprises here.

Nothing wrong with it, but it’s just a department store.

If it’s your thing, you’ll like it.

Lots to shop especially the food section and supermarket in the basement. It’s a feast for the eyes and stomach! There’s tax free shopping available as well if you are not a Japanese resident.
