Negatives:
Dirty. There is mildew in the bathroom, and the one hook in the bathroom to hang towels etc is completely useless because it is super rusty. Some random stains can be found on the walls too. The toilet paper holder is super dusty. And Our faucet is leaking sometimes. There is no daily housekeeping service + change of towels and sheets (unless you pay extra).

Positives:
Good location such that it is next to a convenience store (Lawson), and there is a lot restaurants and train stations within the vicinity. Wifi speed is also ok (though you have to do the guest log in often). It does have a kitchenette, which includes a microwave.

Partly regretting our decision to stay here but we booked it for a week already. Could've gone to a better place for a comparable price.

Will never stay here again.

Though we had previously done some research on its location, we were kind of shocked that the location is really quite a distance from what we expected.

The main stations for this hotel in Ekoda are Shin-ekota (oedo line) about 8-10 mins walking distance and Ekoda station (Seibu Ikebukuro line) about 5-6 mins walking distance. To be honest, both lines are not too convenient if you want to cover the main attractions in Tokyo (except for Ikebukuro and Shinjuku) and you will end up spending a lot more in transportation fares.

Though this hotel looks decent, the location is quite right as there is many students nearby, but it is not so convenient for tourists like us who would like to explore tokyo city. We spent like more than 1 hour plus to reach Asakusa (thanks to the transit of line from Ekoda station to other stations (dont forget you have to count in the time when you are lost of direction and ask around)

To be fair to the hotel, facilities are not bad, clean and sufficient. but no room cleaning service is provided and there is additional charge if you need it.

Overall is ok, just that its location.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and we are very much appreciate for your review . Our hotel is centrally located in the beautiful, small town Ekoda, which is just 3 stops from Ikebukuro station.Ekoda is a little far from the sightseeing place of Tokyo as you said. However it is very easy to get the Ikebukuro station, which is one of the big terminal of Tokyo and from Ikebukuro very easy to get anywhere that you want to go in the greater Tokyo vicinity.Generally if you want the experience of close to what it feels like living in Japan, Ekoda is the best place to stay. Thank you very much for your kind comments and it is very grateful to hear you satisfied our hotel's facilities . We will still try our best to improve our services. Thank you.

This place has free wifi, nice location (close to convenience stores, Mushashi university, supermarket and restaurants), good facilities.
The downside is there is only 1 pillow on the bed and the bathroom in very small. The window does not open very wide either so it's hard to let the sunshine in.

Booked on Agoda for around 40USD a night on a flash sale

Pros: Clean and conveniently located near 3 stations. The room was small but that is normal for Tokyo at such a bargain price. Stayed for 7 weeks so not everyday cleaning. Had cable TV but only CNN in English. Shampoo and soap provided. Smoking rooms available. Convenience store next door open 24/7. On site laundromat and vending machines. Basic cooking facilities in the room. Staff do not speak much English but one girl working there from Myanmar spoke Excellent English and was helpful.

Cons: None really, maybe more English TV channels only.

Wifi: Very strong and fast. Never let me down.

Room Tip: Pick a non-smoking room

I stayed here in December 2014 for a university trip, and came back again in June 2016 for leisure. The rooms have everything you need except an iron (though maybe you can ask at the front desk). Last time, nobody spoke English, but this time the staff were able to help me and my limited Japanese.
I booked a smoking room because it was slightly cheaper - I couldn't notice any perceptible smell at all while I was there, but when I got home, I realized that all my clothes (especially my pajamas) smelled of smoke. So, avoid these rooms if you are a non-smoker.
It's close to Ikebukuro which is really nice - not as crowded or touristy as some of the other city centres. There was so much to do nearby, but if you wanted to travel further, Ikebukuro is on the Yamanote line which connects to the entire city.
Ekoda is really fun and a lovely suburb, there are so many different cuisine options around to try and the streets feel really safe.

Room Tip: Non-smoking
