Have stayed at the Park Hotel half a dozen separate times in late 2010 and early 2011 and can strongly recommend it.

Standing in the way of 5 "blob" rating are: i) there is no gym or workout area ii) it would be nice to have some more Japanese dishes at the breakfast buffet iii) no so ideal to get to Tokyo Central other than by taxi.

If you are feeling brave try out the raw chicken sashimi at the upscale yakatori across the road from the taxi rank on the lower ground floor (sort of cross the bollarded area and a bit to the left under the flyover, only about 30m away... I was taken their by my hosts and have lived to tell the tale.

A very nice hotel close to both the Shinabasi train station & exclusive Ginza district. The hotel can be a bit hard to find but once you get your bearings you will be fine. Great staff & views, also close to trhe Fish market about 10 min walk. Standard rooms are a bit small but it was fine for us.

The rooms are very small and not in perfect shape (some stains on the furniture), but the hotel offers good value for money (especially if you book in advance), nice views, and a convenient location near Shimbashi station and Tsukiji fish market. Free WiFi is available in the lobby (very beautiful), which is useful.

The perfect location for the first trip to Tokyo! The staff were friendly and went to great lengths to accommodate us. Upon arriving in the evening during the holiday season (December 2011), Chris with guest services provided us with helpful information on the area and suggestions for New Year's Eve. Staff was unbelievably helpful compared to what we experience in the U.S. From hailing down taxis to assisting me in obtaining over the counter medicine at the local pharmacy, we could not have been more pleased with the staff at Park Hotel. The Blue Forest Illumination at the Shiodome (short walk) was spectacular! We were able to enjoy the Hama-rikyu Gardens (short walk) on a beautiful day where we took gorgeous photographs. We were able to access numerous attractions that Tokyo has to offer by using our Rail Passes at the Shimbashi station just a short walk away.Tsukiji Market & Ginza area were also walking distance from hotel. We were fascinated with the busy Tsukiji Market and the food samples that we were able to taste, octopus....mmmm! The night skyline scene from the Tokyo tower observation deck is amazing and a must see. We celebrated NewYear's Eve in Shibuya where mobs of people gathered around to ring in the new year. We look forward to spending more time in Japan and would definitely stay at Park Hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room had a nice view of the Hama-rikyu Gardens but you may want to request a room with a view of the Tokyo Tower.

As a reward for good exam results, my dad booked up my dream trip to Tokyo and this included the Park Hotel Tokyo. And the stay itself is an incredible experience. From riding the super fast elevator up 25 floors to the hotel lobby, looking up to the sky through the atrium, the breathtakingly dramatic skyline (including an illuminated Tokyo Tower) framing the reception desk, and the Grand Pianist playing in the evening. It was intoxicating. The rooms were large and decorated with a great deal of taste, possibly with European leanings.

The staff were nothing but friendly. Neither of us having any real idea on where to go, we ended up just having a chat with the concierge about our interests and he booked us up on two fantastic trips; a day trip to Mount Fuji and the volcanic lake, as well as a smaller scale (but equally enchanting) guided foot tour to the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. In a country that is famed for it's unfailing politeness, the staff at Park Hotel were no exception.

The main criticism I'd offer is that there isn't a great deal in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. There is a small shopping centre which can be accessed by the sky walkways, and it's a short walk into Shimbashi or Ginza, neither of which I personally felt offered the quintessentially Japanese experiences that can be found in Shibuya, Shinjuku or Asakusa. However the hotel is directly connected to the Shiodome station and a few minutes walk to Shimbashi station, so accessing the rest of this amazing city is never a problem.

This hotel and the trip associated with it will always remain with me as one of my fondest memories.
